I have to agree with you here. Since we overachieved this year Chad gets another shot and that is that. What we can do is fix the lines on both sides of the ball and not surrender a no 1 pick for Turner. No way I surrender a no 1 for any backup that is not a Qb.
Then I would appreciate U reply to this situation We are playing for the AFC Championship in Foxboro. The weather has been terrible clear but 15 degrees & winds gusting to 20/30 MPH. We are behind by 2 points cause NE missed a xtra point due to the wind. We are starting on our own 20 going AGAINST the wind & will need to get to the NE 15 at least to make good on the winning FG. There is 1 minute & 12 seconds left in the game & we have 1 TO left. Do you really think that CP can bring us down the field to score the game winning FG based on what we know of his throwing arm strenght up to now? __________________
Hercules might have a tough time with those conditions champ..but I do follow your point. Brady was in a similiar situation this past week. Although they needed a touchdown, if they only needed a field goal, he would have gotten them where they needed to be. Although the weather was perfect, he had less time.
Yes exactly we need a QB for all situations which was the reason I posted it. It is not to bash CP just to show where he will come up short & in the end the team & the NYJ nation will suffer
MY bottom line for the CP thing which i have posted before is unless the jets build a lights out defense, find a stellar running game and upgrade the receiver/TE/FB position, CP and the jets will not be a serious threat in january. jil
The only way Chad brings us down the field is through divine intervention. If it was up to me Clemens would have the job now and Chad would be released to find another team. But the facts are we made the playoffs and the unfortunate politics of the situation means he will be our starter yet again next year. Instead of stepping back like we should have and getting a good pick this year we will have to wait until next year when we get a playoff team schedule and finish 7-9. I have accepted the fact that we will suffer through yet another year of his noodle arm throws and have come to a more realistic solution which would be to use our draft picks to fix both sides of our line. That is something that can actually be done. I would have tradeed getting to the playoffs this year for a chance to have seen Clemens play and a chance at Adrian Peterson or a Run stopping DT in a heartbeat.
Well while nobody knows for sure if true IMHO it will mean another year of no SB Championship. If Man is a smart as he is protrayed & sees all then he certainly has to see what we the fans see & based on that he should take the necessary corrective actions to upgrade the position.
I think by him saying it was an open competition at Qb means he knows chad is not the answer. I think he will give him enough rope to play himself out of the job unless and unforseen Injury can get rid of him instead.
Well just go to my scenario & it means he played himself out of the job. Right? You know we play in the NE of the USA so that situation I made up is quite viable
"get rid of" Is a real window into your thinking ,but that is O.k. Conventenal wisdom will tell us and be correct that the chances of chad regressing and playing poorly during training camp are nill. If Mangini had design's on a strong armed type Quarter back then we will know about it before training camp. But if we follow what would be the norm for any coach with a QB that took his team to the playoff's then it's Penny and the Jets for one more year.
I guess the bonus Chad is do if we don't cut him before 09 doesn't play into it or the fact that we drafted Clemens in the 2nd round and they might actually think he is the guy a year or two from now? It may not but I believe Mangini on this one. Open competition.
Why would Man not want a rocket arm QB that he has confidence in that can chuck the rock when the winds are blewing up there 20/30MPH.
