http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/2012/07/jets_darrelle_revis_to_report.html Wheres all the haters and those who want to trade Revis now?
I just think its great how so called fans turn coat and flip flop on a player over nothing but heresay.
I don't think anyone seriously thought Revis would hold out other than the media. Revis is not dumb and it would be very dumb for him to hold out and have his contract extended 3 years. Like his uncle Revis is about the money and he is looking to cash in after next year in free agency unless the Jets break the bank for him. I was really hoping Revis would hold out. It would have been the best chance of keeping him as suddenly his contract would have tuned into 5 years at a modest salary. The Jets would have then had all the cards and this time I don't think Tannenbaum would have given in. The deal he signed in 2010 was a terrible deal for the Jets and from Tanny's comments its one deal he simply hates that he gave in to. I am sure given a hold out and second chance Tanny would take a much more hardline approach.
Ha! Many of us have been saying this since the speculation first began. Next year is a far more reasonable year to restructure. Cimini sucks. He is mental pollution. Nothing more. That's why I laugh at his claims.
It's funny how unnamed sources that say he's not going to show up are media driven bullshit, but unnamed sources that say he's gonna show up prove he is gonna show up... One thing is for sure, he is either gonna show up or he's not. I found this comment interesting... Jets coach Rex Ryan told the AP on Thursday that he expected Revis to report to camp on time. "If he's not, then it's my job to coach," Ryan said. Isn't it his job to coach whether revis is there or not?
So far, the reports in this thread are also hearsay from unnamed sources who spoke on the condition the remain anonymous...
Except the unnamed sources are speaking in more absolutes this time instead of 'will he won't he'. Also are we going to pick and choose when unnamed sourcces are relevant? Like unnamed sources are gospel when it's something negative but irrelevant when it's positive? Just trying to get a handle of when the unnamed sources are relevant and when they're not is all...
They never are very relevent, they are just taken as more relevent when they say what we want to hear.
You can't blame the fans...When Revis was asked about holding out he said, "We'll see". He could have just as easily said, "Hell no". The "We'll see" didn't leave a lot of confidence with fans, since he's held out before.
I disagree. Im a NYJETS fan first and then a Revis fan. The NFL is business and Revis just wants to do whats right for him and his family. Its like Woody Johnson screwing the season ticket holders. I dont dislike Revis for holding out or demanding more money hes only doing what everyone else does in the NFL owner or players.
It was not hearsay. It was Revis himself who repeatedly failed to confirm he would not hold out and report on time that fueled the speculation. All he had to do was say he would not hold months ago and none of this would have happened. Instead, he kept saying "I don't know" and "we'll see" etc. And those who wanted him traded or wanted to take a hard line did so on the basis of a 2012 hold out.
Then hate the guy for it. Hate the hypocrites who badger the guy then cheer for him when he does good. Either you like him or you dont and the same goes for anyother player who is only treating the NFL as it treats them like a business.
Of course he didn't hold out -- he didn't want to be shackled to us for 4 more years with very little money. I hope this also means he's committed to being a Jet, but I'm not so sure. Hopefully we will extend his contract midway through the season (or shortly into the next offseason)
It's just funny how "Revis not holding out" is somehow considered news. A non answer isn't the same as an answer. The flip floppers were the NY media for turning a non answer into a story in the first place.
