And 0 of them will be considered anything but long shots to win the super bowl. Just because it’s comeptitive doesn’t mean it’s strong.
That would be great, but I don't see it - the o line and pass rush are too weak for me to think that either the offense or defense will be anything better than mediocre (and quite possibly worse than mediocre). And don't forget that special teams on the Jets have been terrible since Westhoff left. I'm sticking with my prediction of 6 or 7 wins until I see a hell of a lot more than I've seen so far. And the best thing that the Jets have going for them is that the AFC definitely is not strong at the top - if the Jets win 9 games I'll bet it's because they beat a couple of the other mediocre teams in the AFC in a poorly-played game.
Disagree but we shall see. 2 years the raiders were favorites in the AFC until carr got hurt. no reason they can't repeat that now with a better run game and better WRs and better D. Jax was 1 play away from a SB and if they were to get teddy would be a big upgrade over bortles and having bortles as a back-up is good insurance. I'd argue those 2 teams are as good as any in the NFC save for the vikes and eagles which are like the NE/Pitt of the NFC. i don't see the 3-8 teams in the NFC being any better then the 3-8 teams in the AFC
I predicted we'd make the playoffs when Bridgewater got signed. This SI article seals the deal. Yippee!
If anything the O-Line is now starting to appear underrated. Forget Washington we had two starters out. It was a damn pre season game. Our line isn't great but it's also not going to be a bunch of inept turnstiles either
Concur. This team is better than last years team that won 5 games with a much, much weaker OL. Plus we added some offensive weapons in Enunwa, Pryor, Crowell, and just maybe a TE or 2. And the secondary is better with Maye and Adams in year 2 and the addition of Tru. There are still a lot of weaknesses on the team but its much improved over last year when the team was competitive in most games. 9 wins is not out of the question.
I want to believe. I think teams are going to test the OL and Darnold early and often until they can prove they can handle the pressure. We could be in for a dink and dunk kind of year, which’s is fine if it keeps Darnold upright and moves the chains.
Wasted season, could have gone 0-16 and had the first pick in the draft. This playoff run only sets the rebuild back.
I think our biggest issues on the OLine last year was our center and Winters being debilitated to an extent none of us knew. If he’s truly healthy and close to 100% and if Long is better than Johnson (which is a pretty low bar) this line could be functionally adequate. And if our line is functionally adequate, with our added weapons on offense, Sam balling out as I suspect, this is a 9 win team and a playoff team. Mac wins GM of the Year, Bowles wins Coach of the Year, Sam wins Rookie of the Year and Teddy wins Comeback Player of the Year for the Jags, Broncos, Bucs or whomever loses their starting QB this weekend.
Rofl ... so true ... “9-7 is a failure season, no VLT, Fire everyone!!” I’m happy my life isn’t so black and white and I can enjoy the journey. There is so much to look forward to this season with all the young talent. I almost feel bad for those who can’t enjoy the ride.
Especially the dudes who want Bowles and Mac fired. I'm too fatigued for another rebuild--hoping this is the group that puts it all together.
