also, this "brainless" Rex Ryan out coached the "Coach of the Year" in a playoff game AWAY from home. You guys need to slow down bit. Rex is a good coach.
The defensive personnel is only good. It is not great. Therefore, great coaching will be needed in order for the 2011 Jets to turn it around and be a superb defense. The base defense is a 3-4 and the Jets don't have particularly speedy linebackers. I believe that is a problem. They also don't have a really good pure pass rusher. If you don't have that type of player and you have slow linebackers (relative to the average NFL team) it's probably not best to be running a 3-4. That's just my opinion. I'm more of a 4-3 fan anyway.
He's definitely a good coach, but he's got some room for improvement. I believe most Jets fans would agree.
If the Jets can turn this mess around and be the playoff team we all thought they were in August it'll speak volumes for Ryan's ability as not just a good X's and O's coach but as a head coach. He's done some great things thus far but this season we'll have a better sense of how good of a HEAD Coach he is. It starts with the next 2 games. The team is in a bit of disarray right now but a win against a bad Dolphins team and then a tough yet certainly winnable home game against SD can have us back on the right track.
Rex needs to make people accountable for their shitty play/schemes. Just saying I know we are good doesn't cut it.
I think he's already proven that to us. In 2009 we had 2 3-game-slumps and still made the playoffs. Problem here is that the more times you stick your hand in the gator's mouth, you improve your odds of getting your arm torn from your body. The D starts fast and finishes weak, and the O starts slow and finishes with urgency. That's how you play like a Jet. At some point playing like a Jet is going to kick him in the balls.
