Sorry - I wasn't aware of the rules. There are bound to be more QBs released, and there will be QBs available for trade. If you believe that there will be WRs like Maclin or DThomas available - let alone willing to come to this black hole with ANOTHER rookie QB starting - you are dreaming. I'd be happy with Locker, Mallett, or trading for Newton, RGIII, or even signing Fitzpatrick over burning through another rookie QB - Any of those guys would be better than a rookie because the failure rate for rookie QBs is so high. In a draft without a dominant QB prospect, using a top 5 on a QB is a wasted pick IMO and bypassing allows us to take an impact player like Cooper, Peat or Gregory.
You can't take Buffalos picks into account. I mean they drafted EJ in the first for gods sake. No one on earth was trading two firsts for Watkins except Buffalo
Tampa is very capable of beating New Orleans, that Rob Ryan defense just got shit on. If they can protect McCown just a little Mike Evans will destroy them. A win is even possible against Carolina
This is something that bugs me. They gave up 1 first round pick - not 2. They used the one they had and upgraded by adding next years. That's not giving up 2.
My point was that everyone every so-called expert predicted Watkins as the top end wide receiver...same way Cooper is this year...will he turn out that way who knows
True, but technically you're spending two picks to draft him. He wouldn't have been there for their pick
but watkins may turn out to be the top receiver in time. He's had a decent year with shit QB play. He's very talented
There was also the crowd that was adamant that Odell Beckham would never be able to carry Brandon Cooks jock strap. So far, they both look good.
I was at a draft party with some good close friends (giants fans) and as soon as they took him I told em they got a stud I was praying he would fall to 18
It's still a lot to give up for one player. Look at the Falcons trading up for Julio a few years ago; even though he ended up being a dominant receiver, the trade clearly didn't benefit them in the long run because the loss of draft picks hurt their depth at many other positions in the long run. Then again, the Falcons did give up more for Julio: a 1st- (27th overall), second- (59th) and fourth-round (124th) pick in 2011 and their first- and fourth-round picks in 2012.
Before they traded stevie johnnson later in the draft... buffalo's offense was looking BEAST! Stevie J and Watkins oh boyyy...But shit... Watkins was worth trading up for IMO, obvious future stud. But Mike Evans was more NFL ready because of his athleticism and build, young Randy without the speed.
We're all just guessing. Nobody is right or wrong because the player they wanted succeeded or failed. They just guessed right or wrong. None of us really know anything at the end of the day. Anyone who says differently is just delusional. I can beat the drum all I want about Mariota and how I think he's going to be the pigs balls but I have no idea. He may turn out to be the next Tom Brady but may turn out to be the next Brady Quinn (well, not really, but what do I know ). _
Id take a flyer on Griffin for the right price...Mariota, as much as I want him, is going to Tampa bay, and I want no part of Winston. Give me Bradford or Griffin and draft Cooper. That dude is gonna be a fucking monster
