Yeah... funny thing, our defense couldn't really cover the TEs on other teams, either. Because our linebackers were old and slow and our safeties were a liability in coverage.

It's like the time he was like "we have so many players on our roster who are gonna end up like Victor Cruz!"

As a Jets fan for 45 years, I will be happy if the Jets never ever draft a tight end in the first round again. Fool me 7-8 times, shame on the organization. The NFL is filled with tight ends drafted after round 1. Using a first rounder on a tight end has been disastrous for the Jets since the 70s and is a wasted pick.

Yes. 1 year rental in MIA and back with Jets after a mediocre year down south.

This is what I was thinking.

The Jets have been terrible at drafting just about any position since the 70s, should we just stop drafting altogether?

I agree, even if it's a young TE without much experience we need a TE that can block and defenses will be afraid of.

I like Jeff Cumberland but we definitely need another tightend. Everyone thinks we should just plug in young guys at every position but going after a veteran like Dallas Clark to split TE duties gives us a solid player and leadership for our young guys in the locker room. Could also take a flier on Kevin Boss but we should grab another TE for sure.

I'm hoping either Chris Pantale or Hayden Smith pan out this year. otherwise we should make a strong push for Jimmy Graham next year.

I would gladly take Brent Celek. He would be an upgrade over Cumberland... As long as the price is reasonable.

Celek would be great played with Marty Mornhinweg, can help offense along with WCO, and hes relatively young at 28. Would be a nice pick up for the jets at the right price

This x10000. I love Eifert as an ND fan, but drafting him at 13 would not have been good value. Just look at the 2010 draft, Gronk, Jimmy Graham, Hernandez, & Pitta were all drafted between 42-114.

The only TE drafted in the first round that year was Gresham. He's a very solid TE, but the Bengals left Demaryius Thomas, Dez Bryant, & TIM TEBOW on the board when they picked Gresham at #21.

If we regret taking Richardson @ #13, it won't be because of Eifert. It'll be because of one of the WRs or pass rushers that we passed on.
