EDIT I made a change in the draft that I feel is for the best/more realistic. We select Chris Houston in Round 1 instead of Round 2. We take G/T Justin Blalock in Round 2 to compete with Brandon Moore at RG or take over for Pete Kendal next year at LG. Since we get Blalock in Round 2, we take a nice sleeper in WR Brandon Myles in Round 3 instead of Wrotto.
I like that draft much better. I'm not very high on Wrotto as he lacks elite size, strength and had a poor senior bowl.
Nice work. Needs more attention to the Dline. I agree with Merkava, Dewayne can't cover enough ground to play DE.
Don't bet on that. I think that Clemens is Mangini's guy, and he is not that nig on Chad. Expect another open competition, and don't be super suprised if Clemens gets the nod.
I disagree, Moore was solid at RG, nothing Moore but not where you are desperate for a change. Anthony Clemnt was one of our best lineman last year D-Rob is great at either DE or NT, but we need either or, not both. RB, I just don't know here...... I'm not big on going all out and throwing money around or using a top pick on one..........
What do you mean by that? I know it's a position that he's never played, but I think he can succeed. I read the Joe Klecko thinks that Robertson would be a better fit at DE in the 3-4.
i agree on getting leon help with a lead blocker. i sure miss sowell in that situation and agree that we need to address in putting up more points on offense and selecting the bpa which might possibly be a wr.
Jerald Sowell actually becomes a free agent after this season. I'd be all for resigning him. Thoughts?
I never understood why they signed Jerald Sowell since they had another old vet in Mike Alstott. Well hopefully we can get Sowell back. He was a good reciever and a great blocker and is EXACTLY what we missed at FB this season.
I just don't think moving Dewayne to DE is the answer. DE's play in more space and pursue. I don't want to move him. Rotation with pouha and maybe a second day pick, the NT crop should/will be deeper next year.
I like Hollis Thomas as a one year stop-gap. He's only 6-0 or 6-1 and around 320. He is definately a space eater. He helped out the Saints' run defense this season and he could help ours for a year or so. Ideally though, Robertson bulks up a little bit or Pouha steps in.
I think that is actually the option. Robertson is around a similar size as Hollis Thomas actually. If Robertson can can 10 pounds or so, and get to 330, he would be a beast, and perfect size too.
Nice post. Most of my feedback has already been stated here. Couple of notes, as I've noted on other posts I'm not high on Leonard Davis at all and believe people are not giving Clement the respect he deserves for a pretty good season. Sure, he can be upgraded if possible, but he was not the weakest link on this O-line. Also, you mentioned Tui Alailefaleula. He was given an injury settlement earlier this year and released. He's currently out of football....
bammf....Clement is an UFA and after his solid season, might decide to see what the market is like. I agree he was MORE than solid, and they should TRY to hold on to him at a reasonable price. Until that happens though, they have to plan to fill that slot other ways.
