He has been a problem everywhere he has gone. That much is true. I don't think its waxing poetic. I think it seeing that there is something redeemable about his character. I dont know anything about the murder thing. I do know him and his wife had some hard times but are still together and she is his biggest fan. The reason we got him for a 5th rounder is most teams arent in a position to pay wrs his age 9 mil a year. Believe me if his salary were 3mil it would have been a much higher pick. I don't fault anyone who disagrees with me but i think the way he has turned his life around and the work he is doing to raise awareness around mental heath issues is admirable. I respect people who take inventory of themselves and say this is not good enough. And he has done it publicly. I would respect the person he is now if he weren't a jet.
"The guy has a rap sheet a mile long including beating his girlfriend." http://www.bpddemystified.com/treatments/medication/ Please read. The treatment includes talk therapy and medication I would seriously doubt any MD not including a prescription for anyone with a history of outbursts and aggressive behavior
LMAO .......ahhhhh yes the age old confusion between "consumate professional and consignment professional" A small slippage on MJKs part. PROBS to that
Im having a hard time following all the topics on this thread so forgive me if this is off point. He has gone on record multiple times saying he is not on medication but sees a therapist.
Dude, thats because Mr Marshall doesnt want to take them not necessarily because therapy is the singular and only treatment Plus I dont believe everything sports personalities or people say
Marshall didn't act out or throw anyone under the bus during our 4 game skid. People change... except for SOJ fans. They are bitter old bastards, always looking for a negative.
I'd love that to be true since they have the best record in the NFL of all time, yeah regardless of whom have they played and in which time they did, they have the best record of them all, period.
First, that's true of about half the NFL. Everybody makes mistakes. Everybody grows. Move on. Second, as a Jet, Brandon Marshall has been a straight up guy, who genuinely seems to give a shit, and has been a real leader for this team at a time when it desperately needed one. He comes to play every week, and while he occasionally makes the odd bone-headed play, or gets the dropsies, the GREAT plays he has made FAR outweigh the bad ones. I watched the story ESPN did on the guy, and I have read some things on him. I find it hard not to like the guy and pull for him. I am a long time Jets fan and I am absolutely ecstatic that he is here and really enjoy watching him play.
I knew this team would have the chemistry back in camp. Following the jets on social media like snapchat and IG, they are really close.. they are having fun. From hard core ping pong tournaments to 1 on 1 match ups in practice (Marsh vs Revis... Cro vs Deck... great d-line vs good o-line) you could just see everything gelling nicely. Vet leadership is irreplaceable. But the true icing on the cake was Fitz... well good Fitz at least. He has given all the troops someone to really rally around and he's funny as hell too. Fitz is a character, the kind of character you can't help but like.. I wish i knew he was this way over all the years i bashed him.. definitley woulda rooted for him.. he's a cool dude. AND a war leader on the battle field. IT. AINT. MAGIC. BABY!!!
I'll tell you why; as I stated earlier, you are making incredibly presumptuous statements you simply are not qualified to make. There is enough negativity around this team any given year and when you have a guy like Marshall, who by all standards has been the definition of , 'stand up guy' we don't need your bullshit. At this point, your halfbaked comments have become fodder for the other members and with every post your further cementing your place as the village idiot. My advice, just stop playing Sigmund Freud, it's annoying.
Theres's also many examples of how he's matured as a human being let alone football player. He was diagnosed with mental issues that he now helps other people with. He and his wife raised 6.8 million dollars in the area to help people with these issues. So the issues you seen before were deeper than just losing games.. that just helped triggered his issues. i honestly don't think Marshall would act that way now if we were to be a losing team. He's changed for the better. Would he be upset yes but i dont think he'd be at practice punting footballs off the field or arguing with the QB publicly.. that's just me though.
Ha. Gimme a break. They haven't been consistent winners since Halas retired. 9 of their 12 NFL championship/SB appearances were before 1950. Halas coached them from 1920 to 1967. They have 82 wins vs teams that don't exist anymore like the 1920-25 Rock Island Independents who they're 8-1-4 against and the 1930-43 Brooklyn Dodgers who the Bears are 10-0-1 against. Since 1968 The Bears have 361 wins, 14 playoff appearances, and 1 Super Bowl win. Since 1968 The Jets have 329 wins, 14 playoff appearances, and 1 Super Bowl win. So almost identical record since the merger, both teams have miserable blue collar fan bases, pride themselves on defense, haven't had a franchise QB in ages, have been dominated by their division rivals elite QB for what seems like forever. The similarities are striking.
It sure seems like Marshall has achieved a kind of personal redemption, entering a new phase of his life where he has put behind him most if not all of his problems and demons. It can't all be winning, because as others have noted he did not act out when the Jets were going 1-4 in mid season. At least a significant factor has to be his recognition of the specific kind of psychological disorder he suffered from previously. I would think such recognition and how he could deal with it must have been like a light going on in a dark room for him. None of us can guarantee Marshall will never regress. But I think it unlikely, given that recognition. We also should recognize that Marshall himself seems to attribute some of his personal growth to religion. He is observant and says so. I am thrilled to have him on the Jets. I'd probably have to go back to getting Curtis Martin for the last time I felt this good about an addition to the roster like him. He's not been all perfect, but who is?
I'd rather have the Jets fighting like cats and dogs in the locker room and winning championships ('70s Athletics and Yankees come to mind) than being on their best behavior and missing the playoffs because they can't put away marginal opponents. What happens in the locker room is irrelevant to what happens on the field.
Except that the Bears have won a SB since I was born and the Jets have not. And were in another one 10 years ago. At this point I'd take a SB appearance.
An observation from an unlikely source. My daughter who is a NCAA athlete is home from college for the holidays. In watching the game - she is making comments like. Boy I don't ever remember the Jets looking so much like a team. They are having fun and playing for each other. They have great chemistry. Keep in mind she really didn't start really watching until the Rex Ryan era.
