ugh its so frustrating. Because once when it gets to 3rd and long you know theirs no chance of a first down.
YES!! Its a LONG season. And it hasnt even started yet. No matter what we did we have our slate wiped clean come week 1. How many times did we think that we were out of the playoffs last year? At least 3 times, AT LEAST! So dont be so quick to get down on us, even though I know its so easy to!! But dont worry guys we will get it together when we start playing REAL games next weekend!!
I agree it's just the preseason (and yes I meant "re"gressed...sorry) and the games don't mean jack. I like Sanchez and I'm not panicking one bit and I didn't mean to sound as negative as I did. But I did expect, if nothing else, to see better judgment from him.
looks like Rex might have to institute the color-coded playcalling scheme a little earlier this season.
This was a dismal performance, and I'm not gonna sugar coat it. The sky isn't falling, but I'm not going to write this off as unimportant either. This team gave objective fans reason to tone down expectations tonight. We have no offense other than when LT manages to wiggle into the seconary. He has to keep the ones playing into the 4th quarter just to get a 6. That was what, how many quarters between TD's?
the Jets have not had a QB throw for 300 yards in a game since 2006. That's sad. You would think it would change this season with all the weapons but I just don't know. Then again, if we run the ball like we've been that's ok
I'm not going to nitpick on how the job gets done....as long as we win.....it doesn't matter how the Jets do it...through the air or on the ground.
Sanchez was getting pressured and sacked all night. It starts with the offensive line and they are not protecting Sanchez very well. Mind you this was at times against the 2nd and 3rd string Washington D.
Not true on that out pattern that Sanchez nearly threw for another early pik six. Yes, the O line was not good, but neither was Sanchez. Bad decisions, including the INT throwing into double coverage... he easilly could have dumped that ball off to Tomlinson.
That's in the back of my head. If they start 1-3, then I'll be convinced hard knocks was a bad choice for a team with such high expectations.
For me Sanchez says the right things but his play shows a guy who hasn't really learnt from his mistakes. Yes the plan is Vanilla but that is no excuse for bad reads and forcing balls in scoring positions. It is only pre season but you want to see better from your starting qb i.e Packers/Colts/Patriots/Saints genuine SB contenders heck even the Lions and Rams have had better QB play!
Like I said in my other thread, the O line is supposed to be one if not the best in the NFL (last season) but they are truly sub par so far which affects Sanchez greatly. If they were protecting Sanchez better he wouldn't be forced to make faster and better reads - we don't have Peyton Manning back there we have a 2nd year QB who is maturing. You named a couple plays where he made mistakes and I think that's true, I'm not totally defending Sanchez here, but for every mistake Sanchez made you'll find two the O line made. This is what Shotty and the O Line were working on last week instead of practicing:
I'm really hoping that it is just down to no game planning. But Rex is a HC that wants to win every practice, scrimmage and game. The one thing that has me wondering is that, Sanchez faces the best NFL D in practice every session and has done well, then we play a pre season game and the mistakes start to rack up. I just hope this is some kind of epic mastermind of a plot to fool all our adversary's into thinking we have a crap Offense.
I am very concerned about the o-line. When they cut faneca to save 2mil, my first reaction was WTF, why mess with the best oline, why screw with the chemistry, even if fanecas play had slipped a little. Then you think, Rex and tanny surely now what they're doing. Why would they make such a seemingly unnecessary move, when they are loading up the rest of the team for a run? After seeing the first 3 ps games, I am realizing they fuxked up. That line is certainly not improved, so WTF did they cut faneca for. It made no sense then , makes less sense now. Btw, I know it's only ps, and I'm not writing anything off, but clearly the jets wanted to perform past nite, after that disaster in Carolina, And they didn't. To me, it was a bad, completely unnecessary decision to choose to start this season with a worse o-line than we had last year, when we r primed for a real run.
Does anyone here really think that this team is good enough to simply "flip the switch" come opening day and the offense will start clicking on all cylinders? This team had problems on offense last season and it still does and sadly, there's a new wrinkle this season. That being the suddenly pourous OLine that just might give us Brunnell at QB one day soon. The Faneca hole hasn't been plugged, LW perhaps has been replaced by LT but Sanchez 2.0 looks a lot like Sanchez 1.0. If this defense isn't the equivalent of the '02 Ravens, we're not making the playoffs and Rex will be eating a huge plate of crow by season's end. Schotts, get your unit's shit together man. Its squarely on his unit to make or break this season.
We haven't even played a mediocre team yet, much less a good one. You hope they are holding back but I just can't imagine that team playing the Ravens, Pats and Miami in the first three weeks. It could be a nightmare. Did anyone see Gholston on the field even once with the starters or we paying 50 million dollars for a backup? Shame about Pace, hope it isn't a "few" weeks as Ryan said. The defense doesn't seem to be missing a beat without Revis. Sure we need one more corner but it doesn't have to be him.
