Absolutely! The jets have the $ to spend. In fact they HAVE to spend a certain amount. If Breece mopes and is pissed about the franchise tag, who would want him as a free agent in 2027? The jets have so few good players--keep those you can. Now, we can forget about RB completely in the 2026 draft and use the 10 picks in other areas.
If Glenn wins 8 games, his job is safe until '27. 8 games are more than twice as many games as he won in his first season which by all accounts, was a trainwreck. Mougey and the new, more experienced CS will be doing the drafting with Glenn's input but Glenn most likely will defer to his staff if he's smart. Woody's Org chart has both Glenn and Mougey as equals, but the everyday working Org chart probably reads more conventionally with Mougey>Glenn>CS. Mougey has a workable plan whereas Glenn is still in OJT. If Glenn wants to keep his job, he'll let Mougey's vision play out and let his more experienced CS do what they do best.
A - Nobody cares how hard you disagree - you don't know what you're talking about. B - I didn't tell you that at all, you just can't comprehend written English. C - No franchise player has ever been drafted in the NFL; franchise players earn that designation on the NFL playing field. D - I was never pissed that the Jets were not in the running to get Lawrence. E - The only thing important in the NFL is winning games. F - Your act is so old it reeks - why not take it elsewhere and stink up some other board?
No team plans on tanking an entire year away. The trades of Sauce, JJ ad Q were salary dumps and the jets made out like bandits. Already read that a lot of Colts fans wish they never made that one-sided trade. I think Mooge does have "one cohesive plan."
I think at the Combine Mooge may have gotten an idea what the market for Breece looks like. It probably was closer to 14 mil anyway. Just looking at the list of FAs available, Breece is quite high on that list. I think tranny tag would have worked too, but he decided not to take any chances. Good and obvious move either way.
As much as I'm not a fan of the tag, after mulling it over for a bit, this actually isn't that bad. If he plays on the tag he's making a solid $14 mil, which he's not going to see guaranteed, from any other team. It gives the Jets an opportunity to "see" if he will be in their plans for the next 2 or 3 years, which would basically have him a Jet for his entire career, and it's not really breaking the bank. Also, as stated by others, he really is the only proven solid offensive option. Wilson is too small to the be the defacto #1 offensive weapon and, as long as Mason continues to grow, a good TE and solid running game are a young QB's best friend. One way or another there is going to be a rookie/young QB under center at some point and he will need to lean on that RB/TE.
I saw an interesting stat about Breece today: He's currently 12th for Jets all-time rushing leaders, just barely behind Shonne Greene. However, if Hall rushes for 1,000 yards in 2026 for the Jets, he jumps to 4th all time only behind Martin, McNeil and Emerson Boozer.
I'm not sure if that's a sad stat or... Hall has basically been on the field for a measly 3 years and, after one more 1,000 yd. season he jumps to 4th!? Wow... Is there any stat that doesn't result in a "head shake?"
