This is a false tweet. It's a retweet of several other false tweets on the subject. The decision to seal Epstein's little black book was made publicly during the trial so that the evidentiary process did not include reading hundreds of names, some of which were unconnected to the case in any way, into the record. The book itself had been exposed in a Mother Jones feature in which the author Leland McNally called everybody in the book in the process of writing the feature. It's already part of the public record.
The PR effort to influence her sentencing is now underway with the BBC leading the way. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-59733623 She has enough wealth to hire quite a good PR firm and no doubt has.
The first thing I thought of was 'The Secret life of Walter Mitty' with Danny Kaye, Virgina Mayo, and Boris Karloff, ha.
^Now is the Winter of our discontent made glorious Summer by this son of York. Somebody had to do it.
One would think this was complete tomfoolery, but if I was a betting man, I'm not sure how I'd wager. Logic goes that they slacked off, fudged their hours, and the DA just said, nah, not wasting the public's shekels on a no-win situation. EDIT: Autocorrect.
I'm pretty sure you have it right here. They were actually accused of sleeping on the job and using their PC's for unapproved web-surfing at other points that evening. They were supposed to check in periodically on Epstein and others in a routine monitoring process and they apparently failed to do that at any point that evening. Epstein was no longer on suicide watch for some reason and that was a decision well above their pay grade. This deal was actually approved in May '21. It was conditional on the defendants completing 100 hours of community service and other cooperation into the investigation of Epstein's death. The guards had been suspended in 2019. No idea what their Bureau of Prisons employment status is now.
You may be right. But it sure seems there's a reluctance, and that's being kind... to holding people at all levels accountable in the Epstein saga. I wonder if Ghislaine is gonna get work release like he did...
