"He wouldn't help the Jets out that much either -- he'd just end up getting hurt before the playoffs and then sitting out when he's healthy...again." Don't get me started on that again. He was legitimately hurt and if you read Jets Confidential excellent coverage of his injury, you will have known that. He had a sprain in his knee that would have made him a liability on the field because it would have robbed him of his speed. His speed is the attribute that makes him effective. His comments about caring about his contract were foolish but he was legitimately hurt. Stop saying otherwise.
"Go ahead and give me the excuses...A QUARTERBACK played with a TORN LABRUM. So save it." The Jets Training Staff wouldn't reveal to the media that Chad had a torn labrum because there would have been an outcry about it. They had him cleared to play. The training staff wouldn't let Abraham play in the playoffs! There was a miscommunication between the Jets public relations department and the media about the extent of Abraham's injury and how the training staff felt about it.
Those who lament the trade of Abraham need to get over it. Without moving him we would not have a frist round pick to select the anchor of our O-line for years to come. We got younger and better on the otherside of the ball for moving a oft injured malcontent on the D-line. Good move by the the front office.
OOps it would seem I have opened up some old wounds. Myself I liked him until he didnt play in the playoffs for us. It showed me he was not a team player. Yes I realize it is a business and i understand he could have wrecked his chances to make more money down the road. All these are legitimate excuses for the BUSINESS side of things. However I have nothing to do with that side of the game. I am just a fan I enjoy guys who take one for the team. Sacrifice all to win. There are guys like that playing today. Those are the ones I chose to be a fan of.
