He had to be Tom Brady in Tom's 8th year right out of the draft. You didn't know? What a fucking bust this kid is.
1. But using Brady and Manning is stupid? That's not the point here. The point is that the entire offensive crew including Sanchez is to blame - of course the lion's share of blame should go to the OL, but are they responsible for the ineptitude of the offense in its entirety? 2. Maybe Jets offense is not talented enough - possibly they are talented, but not enough to execute the plan of the offensive Genius of Schottenheimer.
3rd year players know how to make pre-snap reads, especially when there are uncovered defenders poised to pounce on him. They don't lock in on one receiver 80% of the time. They don't have mechanical issues that made him throw flat footed on short passes instead of stepping into his throws. They don't miss receivers more often than not in short passing situations. A leader on offense doesn't let the OC call pass plays that he can't complete even 50% of the time. They don't constantly miss a wide open plax when tone is doubled and force the ball into tone anyway. They don't throw the ball at plax's feet when he's 6'5" and should be going up to get balls from smaller defenders. etc. etc. etc. The kid has moxie but the talent and polish isn't there, nor is the arm.
The issue is with both Sanchez and the offensive line. Most of the Jets issues on offense are not Sanchez's fault--as many have pointed out, it's impossible to run an offense when you can't even take a 3 step drop without having the pocket collapse That said, Sanchez's mental mistakes make a bad situation worse. The pick-6 is the perfect example: he got pressured way too quickly, but no matter how fast the pressure comes he can't make that throw. That was a high school read, and he panicked under pressure and blew a game that we were still in (despite the offense's best efforts.)
Shotgun. 3 Wide plus Keller. Hit the open guy on 3. Sanchez never takes a hit. Watch NE. SOMEONE GET CHARLIE WEIS BACK HERE NOW.
Personally I'm very skeptical of Colin Baxter's ability to handle the shotgun, and I'm also not crazy about abandoning the run (which we'd effectively be doing by transitioning to a shotgun offense, considering who our backs are.) But at this point I'd be willing to try just about anything to stimulate the offense. This shit 'aint cutting it.
Hello to all. I've followed this site for quite some time but just recently joined. I gotta say I enjoy reading most of the posts. I had to say this though i don't think there was much he could do on alot of the plays last night. He had absolutely no time to get rid o the ball!! Mangold being out is HUGE for this team! Ducasse is a joke and he is gonna end up getting our qb's hurt. We gotta find some backup help on the o-line soon or were gonna be on the outside looking in come playoff time
Meh. If Sanchez plays extremely well against New England and we win, the My Quarterback thread will be bumped, and all will be forgiven.
^ of course. That's the nature of fans. He's been playing well because he's still taking chicken shit and doing something with it. No one knows that because a) they can't analyze the game or b) look at his completion percentage because we all know that's what makes or breaks a QB. Wrong. Give him Mangold back, and have Turner look like January Turner and he might stop running for his life.
No, this is wrong. Sanchez has proven over the last couple of seasons that the one thing he is good at is beating defenses that take chances and gamble short. The problem is that he has had no time to let plays develop down the field and Schotty has done a piss-poor job at this point of calling the kind of plays that scare defenses. All it's going to take is one 20 yard slant over the middle that Santonio Holmes takes to the house, like he did against Detroit last year, and defenses will back off. That play just isn't getting called this season. Schotty is calling the fruitiest selection of all hands in the area plays at this point. The play where Mason and Plaxico were basically fighting for the ball is the perfect example. Yes, Plaxico was confused because he wasn't sure what play had been checked into. Yes, Sanchez probably should have avoided the area because 3 defenders were within 5 yards of each other when he let go of the ball. The point is that calling plays where your slot receiver winds up outside with another receiver are just a disaster waiting to happen and we have seen that over and over again this season. Watch Wes Welker carefully. 90% of his routes from the slot move in towards the center of the field or go straight up the hash mark. Now watch the Jets slot receivers. They are all over the place and frequently causing a traffic jam where they wind up. That's a failure of the offensive scheme and it's happening over and over again. Get rid of the motion that does nothing but wind the play clock down. Get rid of the cluster plays that are designed to confuse the defense but wind up confusing the receivers and Sanchez almost as often. Play some basic football so that all of the players on the offensive side have good opportunities to do things right. Right now Schotty is setting up the entire unit to fail by asking them to do things they cannot do. He acts like he has a well-functioning offense and it's ok to put in new twists each week to enhance it. In fact he has a mediocre offense and when he adds to it he makes it worse. There's nothing wrong with Mark Sanchez head that a little straight up football wouldn't help fix. Anything else at this point is pure malpractice on Schotty's part and he really needs to get read out about that and let go if he can't dial it down so that there's a shot it will be good. He's not a genius by any means and he has not earned the right to start acting like he is.
Flacco had a healthy OLine and looked equally bad. I don't think fans on their board are bitching as much.
Much as I like Sanchez, I'm not sure he can carry this team on his back right now. There's just too much wrong with the team. That's the real problem...too much blame to spread around.
Yep. Sanchez isn't good enough to PutDaTeamOnMyBack. He hasn't developed to where he can do that yet. And right now, his OL, RB, WRs, and coaching staff aren't really giving him a whole lot of help.
When you have that choice always turn off the game and talk to your girlfriend. You may occasionally feel screwed when you're watching the Jets but you'll never get laid doing that.
