After watching Eric Fisher bomb in K.C., there's guarantee there will be gem in the first round. For me watching Willie Colon get stomped by Mario Williams,it's clear it's time get away from these retreads. I don't want to see the Jets draft a QB as their first pick. Been there too many times and seen too many failures. Find a vet and then draft a young QB later, so there isn't any pressure to play and he can learn how to play the position. I'm not convinced there is anyone who will be available who will change the fortunes of this franchise.
About time. The Jets need to capitalize on bottoming out. In 2005-2006 they got D'Brickashaw early with the 4th pick In 2007-2008 they got Gholston early with the 6th pick. Time to turn this top pick into a talented player who can play for years. It really determines how we do going forward. We could end up like the Raiders or Bills or Browns and miss and then have to work our way 4-5 seasons out of the mess of last place finishes like they are trying to do now, or it could propel us for 4-5 years.
What is Mariota turns into the next Aaron Rodgers? Would it be worth not drafting him because of too many failures then? We should definitely pick a Qb if we think he his our future franchise Qb. If not, I obviously agree with you. Either way, having a vet is absolutely crucial next year, either Vick but hopefully someone else. But we need a vet even if we draft a qb.
