I would love that draft, it is very good and covers our needs, give me Maurice Drew in the 3rd and that is the best we could do
The wise thing to do is to take the BPA at every spot we pick. We have so many needs and so many picks...this is the best strategy to take. It may piss off some people who have their hearts on one position of need over another..but nothing is more of a clearcut way to build a franchise than to stay true to your draft board.
Thats right, how could I forget...Baker, the playmaker, the touchdown maker. Our receiving corps needs an upgrade and it needs it badly. We have too much $ invested in receiver to upgrade there, so the way I see it, we either go Davis in the 1st or Lewis in the 2nd Gilles will be there in the 2nd, hes an interior linemen. They never go before the 2nd round, and one could even make a debate as to whether or not hes the top guard of the class (though I think he is)
ryan o'callaghan might not even play RT in the pro's (he may have to move to RG, problem is his height might give him a bad disadvantage inside)...and he's not even a 2nd round pick, let alone that high in round 2 (oh boy, i just saw you had him at 29...) ps: who the F posts the first two replies to their OWN thread?
It all depends how they adress the taclke postion in the next few weeks. I am sure they will draft some o linemen but not O Callaghan because he has played hurt his entire career. Look more for players such as Winston Justice,Zach Strief,,Daryn Colledge, and Mark LeVoir. Mangold would be great along with Williams but lets not forget Hawk 1st because Mangini loves linebackers and we need a few especially after cutting Mark Brown.
I think this is a great idea. It's funny, I posted "If I were Tangini", and then saw your post. I like the line A LOT. The Jets should either stay put at #4 for Mario Williams ONLY or trade down.
That is a good idea as long as your draft board is accurate. Rich Kotite defended his choice of Brady at #9 in 95 by claiming that he was the best player on their board. Yeah, right. Warren Sapp and Ray Lewis were taken later that round, among others.
thats like saying were going to pass on the best LT prospect in years because we already have two. there is sometihng in football called a talent level, everyones is different
I agree completely that D'Brick is a complete waste of a pick. But we should go for the other williams, DeAngelo.
Good point. But at least when you staty true to your board, if the picks dont work out, player evaluation is the clearcut source of accountability. When you reach and fill needs that can get alot more cloudy.
Well if they did sign Runyan it would have been better. They are almost Locked in D-Brick now. I would like them to Get 3 O line in the Draft. That is a need that has to be addressed. Wait until the Supplement picks are handed out. That should give you a better Idea on where they are going in the draft.
Our reciever corps is not a major need. I love how everyone wants first round picks at every position on both sides of the ball around here. Vernon Davis does not help us in any way shape or form, if there is no offensive line for our QB to play behind... It's kind of hard to throw from your back or while running for your life. Ask any of our QB's from last year... While I agree he would add a weapon, it's hard to use him if you can't get him the ball, and you really can run effectively if the TE is the best blocker on the LOS. As for Baker... he's a very good TE, and was proving it last year as the starter when he BEAT OUT Jolley. With three TE's on the roster to play TE and one to long snap, I HIGHLY doubt we get Vernon Davis. The focus this year will be the Interior Lines, both Offensive and Defensive, and a RB in the second or 3rd round. As for a TE to stretch the field, someone on here said Dreesen is slow (maybe not in this thread - but someone - a VD proponent, haha - no pun intended, wrote it on the board) . Somehow his 4.81 40 Times tell me he can stretch the field. As foir Giles, I have him as the best Guard in the draft as well, and we are not the only team looking for line help. He doesn't fall out of the first round, and if he does, he gets scooped up by one of the teams in front of us (Quite possibly the Texans - lots of the same needs vice QB) Ellis
Great Talent is never a waste of a pick. If the Jets have him as the highest on their board they better take him.
AT THE #4 spot we can take the best player available the top 5 or 6 players all address our needs and any combo will be a great addition .... of course everybody will complain no matter what or who we pick D'Brick Williams Cutler Hawk and Bush (longshot).................What do you think?
what makes you think that the guard position is not a need.the jet guards are mediocre at best.they make the running game work.
what makes you think that the guard position is not a need.the jet guards are mediocre at best.they make the running game work.you can bet that the jets will draft a guard in this draft
