Well im afraid i dont have the Kendall contract in my possession, but that is what is rumoured to have been the deal.
Does anyone actually know if he didn't ask for it? I would assume by the way he conducted himself last year that he thought he WAS going to get his 'owed' monies. His contract issues have already been done 1M times over. Not interested in that now , I just want to know where hes going to be playing ball this season.
People forget that he re-negotiated his contract last year to help us. I hope he stays here and to me i think he will stay here, Pete kendall will be our starting LG come opening day.
I did not realize he was the team's union rep until I read it today. That complicates things even further...
it seems the fo is being spiteful with kendall, alll the while the rest of the players are watching and it can't be for the good. this is a young and inexperienced fo that i think in the end is hurting this team. for one, the team needs kendall, the offensive line is offensive enough as it is, never mind if they cut him sept. 1st. big mistake in my mind. the team goes to players all the time(every year) and ask's player's to redo their contract for the sake of the team. then to say later, that they don't redo contracts with 3 years left on them is blasphomy. they just did it with kendall the season before. if they're going to cut kendall over his antics, they should have done it already! dragging this sh*t out has got to have a negative effect on the team.... if i'm a player thats has been watching this incident, i'm not thinking about any kind of loyalty come my next contract.....
The only reason i can fathem as to why we have yet to cut Kendall is that as much as the Jets FO hate to admit it, they have realised that we have nobody who can come in and play LG and bring as much to the team as Kendall can. If they do release him just before the season starts i would expect some very good reasons from the Jets.
One has to wonder how much Kendall and Mawae stay in touch now that he's off with the Titans... wasn't Mawae the player rep before Kendall?
I wish I had a clue how this all turns out. The Jets have no win in this situation at all. They can keep Kendall on the roster and have the season turn into a nagging series of union issues. They can release him at the last moment and have him take the playbook to Miami. They can choose to pay him to keep his yap shut at which point they would lose credibility and control. I know what Bill Parcells would have done. He'd have traded Kendall in June to somebody in the NFC and gotten something back for him.
Parcells would have paid him his money. Parcells paid older GOOD players that perform and the OL was always very important to him. The Jets have nobody that can take his place. The cap space is there...just pay him.
Solid post. What the FO is saying isnt blasphemy-- it is more along the lines of horse doodoo, bull crap, monkey muffins, vulture vomit, frog farts. otoh, Kendall has been classless as to how he has handled this, too.
Yah, neither side has exactly covered themselves with glory during the past three months. Kendall just needs to shut up and play. He never should have gone public to begin with. But the Jets FO is just being stupid at this point. We don't know how hard Tanny was trying to get rid of Kendall over the past two months. We know that he wouldn't make a move just to make a move, but that would have been the better idea and avoided all this crap. To me, though, Kendall is not being treated any differently than any other player; they are all asked to play different positions and do different things in camp.
Kendall Situation is A Ticking Bomb with the fuse set to explode the moment Adalius Thomas and the rest of the Patriots blitz rips through the LG spot and finishes Pennington for good. Even if Bender is the answer at LG (and less hope he is), the Jets handling of this situation --their pettiness, vindictiveness and short-sightedness--are major red flags to me.
I have no problems with how Kendall is being treated. He brought his contract dispute to the Media. The Jets chose to make an example out of him for doing this. It will be in the back of every other players mind on how Kendall was treated after he took things to the press. Keep quiet and work hard, get rewarded. Act like a cry baby and get treated like crap during camp. Sounds fair to me.
Correct we don't , but the supporters of either side soon denegrate the topic into a slanging match , I did apologise for making another thread because I didn't want the (IMO) important article swallowed up. I would have thought the sensible thing to do would be to let it run for 24 hours , which this has now done , then merge it. Sorry my apology isn't good enough. It does make me laugh that people still want to post in a thread that needles them. Ignore it????
