I disagree. leon was inept in the KR this year, and his great role in the offense IMO was exaggerated. He's been a good player, not great this year. He was bad on KR, and Greene/Jones have been a very nice rushing attack. Cotchery's absence was far worse in the beginning of the year...
http://www.thejetsblog.com/2009/03/25/the-wedge-rule-and-what-it-could-mean-for-the-special-teams/ Not to mention losing him severely crippled our receiving options out of the backfield.
Not for nothing, but in week 1 TJ was averaging like 1 yard per carry til he broke two 30 yard runs in the last few minutes of the game.
right, thats how averaging works. Its also how running often works. You keep running it and then you start to break off some nice pickups.
Greene/Jones have really shown they can catch the ball and be a nice safety valve for a rookie QB. Huge loss especially this year.
While we have faired well without Leon, I can not help but think he would have made a difference in turning a couple of our losses into wins. Then things would be hugely different right now. The same would obviously hold true for Jenkins.
c'mon, gimmie a break. Who knows how many kick returns would've went to the house. Just speculation but some of the L would have been W with him at least returning kicks.
I have come to realize that it was a big loss for our offense, exspecially the development of Sanchez. Look at Danny Woodhead, that position is Washingtions if he is around. Sanchez would have more confidence in him, and teams would have to worry about him. Sanchez could dump off the ball to washingtion / use him as a scren player and then bam anything can happen. He was a big loss. Bigger then Jenkins in some sense
I duno if you can say it was a bigger loss than Big Kris but it def. hurts. I'm just really anxious to see if one or both of them come back in pre-injury form next season..
Leon was an immense loss. I feel like because he didn't have a TD people think he wasn't playing well, which, in my opinion, is competely false. He was running the ball well when he was in there, not only as a pass-catching type back but as a straight up rb. The guy could break one at any time, and just because he hadn't up until the point he got hurt, it does not mean he wouldn't have finished the year with 5 tds or so. Greene just isn't the change of pace back Leon is. Greene is faster than Jones but he doesn't have breakaway speed like Leon does.
Inept? 24.1 yards is not in the top of the league, but hardly inept. In fact, its the exact same number Sproles is averaging right now as a KR guy. So the lack of successful screens since his injury is not apparent? Yea, I guess that role is greatly over rated. his 8.7 yards per reception is almost 3 yards more than Jones. Jones and Greene still do not combine for as many receptions as Leon had when he went down. Your bais is showing and its silly. That or you just know absolutly jack shit about football.
It's so amazing how when Leon was on the field he was considered the best player we had on offense and now that he's been hurt suddenly he wasn't that good anyway. Ah it's so great to be a fan of this team. "Hey Leon, HURRY BACK BUDDY, I MISS YA"!
REceptions by running backs today.... 0 Threads that the OP still looks like a completely biased moron in bumped by the OP ... 1 That about sums it up, good job
