Just give me some kind of sign man. Anything that would show there is a reason to bring Bowles back for another turn on the Merry-go-round. It's just not there. A field goal attempt in a four down situation two weeks in a row? Gimme a fuckin' break. Yeah, we're too hard on the guy but the OP here has nothing to show as a positive for Bowles and his staff for the entire season. Gloating Belichik dangled Brady on a string in front of the defense for three quarters and nobody laid a glove on the guy on the same day two other QBs had their goddamn legs broken. Meanwhile the constipated one stands emotionless on the sidelines. He's here to win games - FAIL. He's here to develop players - FAIL. He's here to inspire - FAIL. Keeping him here simply because he's only been here for two years is far from enough. I wanted it to work. It didn't. Go. Just fuckin' go.
Please just clean house and start fresh....I don't blame anyone for everything that's gone wrong but no one has shown me any reason why they should be the ones to lead us beyond this disaster of a season
I don't think it's so much that Maccagnan is absolved of any blame. I think it's moreso of the fact that his grade can't fully be completed without seeing how the draft classes pan out. Add in the fact that this is only the second draft where he has his own full scouting team in place and it makes sense that he is given more time. It's not like Bowles' coaching decisions this year can be weighed with what is done this year (except maybe he mishandling of evaluating the quarterback position).
Nope, not going to do it. I'm on team Jets and we keep both. Period. Anyone that thought rebuilding the Jets was a 2 year project was smoking crack....The first year was a loss due to traded draft picks and cap overload (which we still suffer from) Don't blame Mac for signing reviis..unless you want to blame him for giving in to pressure from fans and ownership....which of course is where the real problem is.
To finish that thought, look at almost every bad team and every good team...the teams that are good, or get good, got there by staying steady...the teams that are constantly bad? almost all change horses every 2-3 seasons and never get any consistency.
I'm just going by what I've seen thus far....maybe it's not fully fair to get rid of either guy after 2 seasons and especially Macc but ultimately both have given me the vibe that they're not the best men for the job going forward. It's simple as that for me....nothing personal, just business. I would be surprised if these guys kept their jobs and turned us into contenders eventually. So best to cut your losses now and move forward Macc had a beautiful cap situation as well as plenty of draft flexibility when he took over and he's done a pretty poor job if we're being honest....I'm not seeing anything where I can point to and say wow Mac did a great job here or there. I don't have confidence in the guy to get us out of rock bottom, why should I? The QB position continues to be a disaster under Macc and we're actually even further from finding a solution at this position. We literally wasted 2 seasons and a nice chunk of money because of the decision to trade for Fitz in the first place There's no reason why this team should be at rock bottom right now....poor evaluations and decision making by Macc in key areas are a main reason why we're so horrible now.
So you keep continuity for the sake of continuity while ignoring all other factors? Have you been paying attention to the shit effort this team has given since week 11? Or the reported constant fighting in the locker room dating all the way back to Geno's jaw being broken, then the Sheldon v. Marshall feud that's apparently been going on all season? Players like Pryor saying they don't care what fans think, Sheldon making a vulgar video saying fuck this team and Fitzpatrick saying the franchise doesn't believe in him while they reverted back to starting him vs. Indianapolis. It's an absolute mess. Instead of preparing for the game our star receiver was out in the parking lot visiting tailgates prior to a Saturday night prime time game against a division rival. It's as much of a circus as when they acquired Tebow. We were also about 3-8 before we got hit with the injury bug. This is a more talented roster than the performances they have put in this year. That's coaching, bub. Good or bad, mathematically eliminated or not, teams don't quit like this. The 0-14 Browns played their asses off today to get their first win.
Bowles does not seem to be a coach who simply doesn't have the tools the work with. He's a coach who doesn't know how to use what he has, and has instilled no discipline or pride in his team. A coach can be forgiven for a horrible season when he has zero to work with. However, this is not a team that should be going 4-12; at worst, they should be closer to 7-9 or 6-10.
Performances have regressed with a consistent roster from last year. What's happened to Pryor? Revis? Wilk? Mauldin? Either clear the roster because they don't care or clear the coaching staff because they've not motivated the roster. Either way, something fundamental is wrong.
I think leaving a QB in to throw his 4th, 5th and 6th interceptions in one game is a fireable offense...
The reason that good teams keep what they have, is because they have something to work with. When staying shitty or getting worse happens, waiting on it to get better on its own sure won't fix it.
+1000000 Hit nail on head with this Post There is hope for Mac to improve Had my doubts about Shoddy Toddy from day 1and he cant coach Period!
if i was the owner i would have a nice sit down with my GM and see what he thinks. does HE have a coach in mind that could do better? its likely he doesn't because of his limited time in the GM position and the supply of experienced coaches is very limited at this level. So, what does the owner do. Sit tight - which is not the popular choice but it is the right one at this time. Put BOTH the GM and coach on notice and watch for the improvement, if it comes. we either go 2-14 next year or 8-8.
If you are really J Vilma (I think you once said you are lol) you know your football! Great post....Geno, Marshall v Richardson , Marshall antics, Pryor attitude, Fitz and his whining with millions locked up The only thing missing was Mevi$ and his "body breaking down" (at 17 mil a year you tell people that????} last year it took a 5 game losing streak before our pussy coach put his foot down and said "losing not tolerated" NOT a TALENT QUESTION AT ALL....Millions invested into that D and Williams only guy showing up The Jets have regressed BADLY Complete Team decompensation is reflection on HC and his staff
This may happen but I think Mac stays and Bowles goes The only consideration might be scaring other potential HC candidates away by firing Bowles after 2 years I am sure Mac is scouting Coaches He knows more and at least what you and I know is available out there...My goodness how hard could a Coach search be!!?? So he is not "very limited at this level " jmho
Idk if firing Bowles will scare other candidates. Cleveland was still able to land Hue Jackson who was the hottest cnadidate last year.
