I agree anything is possible but I'm pretty sure we had an amazing amount of injuries that year, including losing Chad Pennington and Jay Fielder for the season in the span of 6 plays leaving us with Brook Bollinger and dinosaur Vinny, who signed his contract sitting his couch, for the year. Injuries can take any team down no matter how good. The one thing I do like about the Santonio Holmes trade is that if (knock on wood) Edwards or J-Co miss any time with injuries, instead of Clowney or Smith stepping in we would have Holmes.

Maybe, but we got our backsides kicked by KC in week 1 and were struggling against Jax when the QBs went down.

I agree like I said anything is possible but its a long season. Last year we basically had 3 different seasons starting off 3-0 then losing 7 in 2 months and finally the playoff finish that had us end up in the AFCCG. Who know what would of happened. But we'll never know it is what it is

The Jets won the offseason Superbowl after Favre was signed, then after Sanchez was drafted, and now this offseason too. Does this officially make the Jets a dynasty?

I heard this talk in 2008 sadly and look how we played in the last 6 games in that season.

I don't like disrespect and I don't like respect. I also don't like being ignored. Does that make me a bad man?

That article is a little over the top. As long as they still are defending division champs, they are still defending division champs. As long as Tom Brady is at the helm, they are still dangerous.

We need to win the division at least two years back to back and beat them twice in a year (and if possible in the playoffs). No one said this shit when Miami won the division 2 years ago. We lasted longer in the playoffs then them but we still had a worse record and went 1-1 against them.

    Dumb article.

The Pats own the East until we rip it from their (tainted) hands. Headlines don't win games. However, they do make for really fun offseasons. :)

I'll get excited about all of the 'Team To Beat' hype if we make it through the draft and TC and preseason and all of the pieces are in place. The Pats still have a lot of trade capital to work with, in the form of draft picks, and can pull draft day trades until the cows come home to strengthen their roster.

I hate them, but until Brady is out of the picture, they are never to be taken lightly. However, I still can't wait to play them.

this article is far from over the top. shes not saying that we'll win the superbowl, shes saying that we're the favorites in the division. based on the rosters as is, i have no problem with that assertion

rex will not allow this team to buy into the hype. they will still have fun while being held accountable for their performances

drop the napoleon complex's and heed revis christ's words, "dont be afraid to be great!"

I remember a lot of people blowing off the Miami and Buffalo games last season after the first 3 games, and we ended up splitting with one and getting swept by the other. Division games are the toughest to win, and they are mainly what decides who wins the division, if not necessarily who will go deepest into the postseason.

That reminds me. Haven't seen a Mike Francesa thread in a while. Did he just quit or something? Run out of things to groan about?

I miss Dr. Z. He'd be shutting down the hype machine with some very funny stuff about all the previous "can't miss" Jets hype cycles. I haven't read anything recently about the NFL that was half as good as his worst day.

on paper the jets should be head and shoulders above the pats this coming year, but being better on paper means jack shit. gotta prove it on the field before we can talk about the pats reign like it is a thing of the past.

Agreed. How many times did the Redskins win the offseason only to barely eek out a playoff appearance at best in the regular season?

I have a strange feeling the Pats are gonna make a move out of nowhere for Brandon Marshall.
I think their fans are in an uproar over their lack of moves to improve the team and with Randy Moss' comments after last season i can see this as his last in NE.
Add to that the Jets are making all the backpage news and are the sweetheart pick to make the SB, i wouldn't be surprised if this happens.
