lawson was a risk but at the time we had 0 edge rushing ability and he was one of the top guys who was in an uptrend. It didn't pan out in hindsight, but at the time it made sense. thats what happens when you inherit a roster with almost 0 talent. like 95% of the players on the team he took over are out of the NFL already.

Don't take me wrong, I am not blaming JD for this, because he got Huff. If you sign an expensive guy and he does not pan out, but UDFA you got for cheap at the same position does what the expensive guy was supposed to do, it is a success. The only way this would not be a success is if JD lets Huff walk. Then it would really suck, which is why I am hoping for an extension of 10+ mil for Huff the sooner the better.

I hope we can resign him. I thought he changed agencies this offseason to some high-powered one, the thought being he really wants to, “cash-in”.

he also added jacob martin as a situational rusher before the draft, but huff was so good we traded martin which moved our 5th to a 4th rounder and saved us the cap room
he also found JFM. we were taking any shot we could to get some edge rush. out line was trash outside of Q and leo when JD took over. he found JFM on waivers and extended him on a discount, signed lawson and jacob martin, found huff as an UDFA, then added JJ and clemens the next year and WMD the year after. he traded martin and now lawson is expendable. our pass rush has been a complete 180 from awful to one of the best but we do lack that 1 elite guy like parsons, bosa, TJ, etc i think thats what JD was looking for in WMD

Cobb has sucked but he is so tight with Rodgers that Saleh/Douglas would not think of benching or moving Cobb. What Aaron wants, Aaron gets.
McDonald was about as bad a #1 pick as Zach Wilson and Becton. The last place Douglas needed to use that #1 pick on was edge. Really stupid!

I still disagree. If he was a bum when healthy, that's one thing. He wasn't though, he played well when healthy. Nobody can predict injuries, they happen. JD didn't bank everything on Lawson, so, like you said. He made up for It.

The OL on the other hand...

But, is Becton in his last year? Should he be? He might be had for a couple of years at a decent price, especially if he's willing to gamble on his ability to pick up bonuses. He plays well and makes good money or he gets knocked out and settles for his basic contract. Right now he's looking mostly serviceable.

You cannot pick an OT when there isn’t one available worthy of the pick.
4 OTs were take before the Jets picked. The next one take wasn’t taken until #2
Steelers jumped ahead of us and grabbed the last top rated on in Jones who has finally started to come around the last couple of weeks.

Just for reference: John Abraham was taken about the same range in the draft as a unique, developental pass-rush talent and through 6 games in his rookie season he had 4.5 sacks and 2 forced fumbles to his credit. The pick is looking a lot like the Jets were surprised, panicked, and took a round 2 prospect with a top 15 pick.
