The other great thing - beyond the TD itself - that no one has mentioned was the forearm shiver that Ellis threw as he turned to head towards the EZ.
Stood in the stadium on the far side of the field from where the play occurred and held my hands on top of my head trying to comprehend what had just happened while everyone was jumping up and down like kids on Christmas morning. I still can't understand it but sure am happy!!!!
The Play literally happened right in front of me. My father and two other people i was with left (the two ladies were cold and he wanted to escort them back). i made sure to tell them that they were feeding into the problem with jets fans. two minutes later the play happened. there was a bills fan going on and on about the jets sucking and choking sitting behind me who i was battling with all game. when ellis scored that touchdown i grabbed the railing behind me, started jumping on the chairs, and screaming in the bills fan's face "who choked fucker" "who choked motherfucker" and could not stop jumping and screaming and banging on my chest like a gorilla. everyone around me was going nuts we were all hugging and grabbing each other and yelling at this guy. he got up to leave and just got bombarded with trash. i love that stadium with all my heart.
I started losing my mind yelling yes and clapping and jumping and cursing. I could hear my dad from downstairs yelling no (he's a Dolphins fan). It was pretty sweet.
i gotta be honest with you, almost every week the two seats behind me are visiting team fans (whoever actually owns them sucks). so every game i gotta hear some moron. most arent that bad and are just having fun so i have fun with them and at the end shake hands and we wish each other a safe trip home and say good game. this guy yesterday was an ass. he sat there with his deuce and a half chick and went on and on about how the meadowlands sucks and the jets suck and our organization is horrible and we choke and what not. if i didnt love the location of my seats so much (2nd row on the goal line where the play happened), i would have punched this guy in the face. (you lose your tickets if you do). i have never been happy to see someone miserable before until yesterday. screw buffalo and go jets.
I just remembered a play that got me as pumped -- the Martin to Chrebet option pass in Tampa. I reacted in much the same way - I went nuts by myself, screaming at the top of my lungs!
It was incredible haha, I remember sitting infront of my TV like all we need is one play, just one, then he dropped back all I could say was "HIT THAT MOTHER FUCKER HIT HIM" BAM FUMBLE FOR TD, i literally threw my chair into the wall i went nuts :buffaloblows:
Yeah, it was one of those plays. I watched the game in a bar with about 40 Jets fans. I was in a bad mood right before the play. Game and season over. The young guy next to me kept yelling "We're going to get a pick this play" I said "They ain't going to throw on this play, they would have to be crazy". Incredibility they did. As I watched the play unfold, saw Elam come around the corner, all I could think was "OH crap, he has a shot" Elam took one swing at the ball, AND MISSED, then the ball came out. Everyone went crazy, Thomas couldn't cover it, Ellis bobbled it. I was frozen with my hands on my head. I knew something was going to go wrong. Ellis picked it up, smashed # 68 to the ground, and bowled over # 75. The refs hands went up. Pandemonium broke out, Some young woman leaped unto my back from behind (it was OK she was pretty Hot) I couldn't believe it. Yep, it was one of those moments.
I was there hugging my Dad, too!! Not only was it one of the most exciting plays, but also a great memory we'll never forget, with our Dads.
Well, folks, based on this single play, is what it must feel like being a Pat's fan and watching every single thing go your way...
I really thought we were going to lose the game at that point right before the play. When I saw Elam come from the side and knock the ball out, that is when I started screaming like a maniac. Then the fight for the ball, which ended with Ellis in the endzone for the winning TD. At that point, I was so out of breath from running around my house. So worth it though, I'll never forget that play.
I was on the verge of tears. The worst feeling in football is watching the other team chew up the clock and know that you can't do anything about it. It compounds it when its a)the Bills (who I hate more than any team in sports) and b) the loss most likely ends your season. This loss would have put me in a terrible mood for the next couple weeks. When Elam came around the corner it gave me hope that we had a chance. I didn't think he would get to Losman because I thought there was no way Losman didn't feel him behind him. However, I knew an INC pass gave us a chance to get the ball back. Then when he hit him I jump up in the air and said "PICK IT UP AND RUN" as I was motioning like I was a 3rd base coach. My wife who only likes the Jets because she knows how much I love them was standing and cheering as well. When the XP went through, I sat back on my couch and my wife said, "are you crying". I was pretty damn close to it and pretty sure I had a tear in my eye. I still wasn't comfortable until the clock hit zero. Plays like that don't happen for the Jets as long as I've been a fan (since 1984). I've watched the play about 30 times since. If you get a chance to look at it again, check out David Harris. His awareness to hit Lynch when the ball was on the ground was a huge contributer to the recovery.
it was without doubt the best moment i have ever witnessed at an NFL game. i was in section 138 so pretty much facing the play as it happened, as someone else said you could see elam bombing around the backside and then boom! and then when ellis came around i have never jumped and screamed like that in my life - amazing.
This was my post at the time of the TD... "No F*cking Way!!! Oh My Godddddddddddddddddddddddd!!! Heart Attack.... Call 911.... Heartattack" Geeze Mike... I had a dish of pasta that went flying on the ground for the dogs as well. The best moment I seen live was Chad Morton KO return for a TD in overtime in Buffalo to open the season. I was right in the end zone waving around my Wayne jersey... what a crazy feeling.
What a great play yesterday. Wished I was there. I've only been to one Jet game and that was the 2006 Christmas night game at the Dolphins. So the most exciting play I've seen in person would be Leon's catch and run on the 64-yard screen pass that set up the winning field goal. What a play yesterday, though. I couldn't believe it. When I saw Elam chase Losman from behind, I thought: "he better knock the ball out" and he did and we got a TD. Best possible scenario. Amazing!
Indeed, rarely do you see my father jump up and down like he did, not something ill easily forget that day, amazing football game.
Watching from the opposite end zone, it was difficult to see the initial hit. But I did see the ball come loose and Ellis pick it up. The replay in the stadium showed the entire play. Yes, that play probably saved our season, but I was getting ill about too many things that went on during that game. The Jets will make the post-season, but they will be one and done if they keep playing like that. They need to pick it up as a team. Lucky breaks will not get them through the post-season.
