Problems with talking about roster purges and rebuilding include the following: - Jets already have the second highest amount of dead cap money next year so they are already trying to get out from under a lot of bad contracts - we've been rebuilding for 15 years - there is zero patience or appetite for a 'rebuild' period - the most important thing by a country mile is landing a franchise QB without which a rebuild achieves almost nothing and there is nothing to suggest they will land one during that time given their history with top 5 QB draft picks - the only assets the Jets have that other teams might be interested in are now on big money long term contracts and have not done anything to improve their trade value so they would struggle to move them at all let alone getting premium picks for them - there is no foundation on which to build - I have zero faith that this is the right CS or FO to hand a rebuild over to - you need an established winning HC to direct things (and I can't see anyone like that wanting to come here to oversee a painful rebuilding exercise)
I honestly don't even know where to start. O-line being porous, receivers that can't get open, poor coaching resulting in a ton of mental errors, poor tackling. At least old man Folk hit a 58 yarder. Good for him. Sent from my SM-S938U1 using Tapatalk
Can you tell he difference between the undrafted free agent DB getting paid pennies and the highest paid DB in the league on that play? I can’t.
You can’t? One missed a tackle, the other got blocked as he was setting the edge and sent the run back inside, right into the arms of four defenders who all failed.
Yeah, Sauce did his job there. Forced the runner back inside, right into the arms of Adams... who took a a poor angle and wasn't set to respond to the inevitable shimmy from Archane.
No matter how talentless the team is, the basics of football can still be executed at a high level. Ball security, tackling effort, eliminating mental mistakes, eliminating penalties…. It doesn’t take talent to play fundamental football, it takes coaching. We have little talent, there’s not much that our new regime could have done to change that in a year. But they are 100% responsible for the entirely undisciplined team we’re watching.
That was barely a block and please forgive me for wanting more from the highest paid CB in the league. I remember guys like Glenn and Revis routinely making that play. Now missing tackles, giving up TDs, never turning the ball over and being the most penalized CB in the league is all you need to earn your money and the backing of Jets fans as a top CB.
That was barely a block? He got driven into the ground. If he wasn’t in position that play goes outside and Tony Adams doesn’t even get a chance to completely whiff on a tackle. I know you’re upset this morning but you’re taking it out on the wrong guy on the wrong play.
I’m taking out on the highest paid guy on the team that misses tackles, gives up crucial TD, is the most penalized CB in the league and rarely creates turnovers. Then cries about officiating. My 10 year old is a pretty good soccer player. He gets fouled a ton playing against much older players. He gets super frustrated about it. I tell him all the time that good players get fouled a lot and the not so good ones foul a lot trying to keep up.
The reality is this braindead organization, needs to trade this guy, he was way over hyped by the NFL and the fanbase, do it now, while he still has value
I take the perspective that the NYJ are maybe better this year than last, but the rest of the league got better by a greater degree--therefore the gap between the Jets and the rest of the league is wider this year. Every team tries to get better so just being better doesn't mean shit--you have to close the gap.
I guess people are just angry and letting their emotions fly because I don’t know why Sauce is even being brought up. Is it his comments about officiating? Because he was right. Doesn’t mean he should have said it but he’s right.
I think that ship sailed. The right play was to trade him before the extension. We can give up 30 points a game w/o his help. We’re stuck now.
Sauce gave up one catch for 4 yards (1 TD) yesterday and didn’t miss a tackle. He had one DPI for ten yards. He’s underperformed the last year or so and he probably wasn’t worth the extension. But he played fine yesterday.
