I don't have a problem with the secondary, I do have a problem with our pass rush. Yes we've gotten a couple more sacks this year than last, but we're getting ALOT less pressure on QB's this year. WE need to add a DL that will require double teams from offensive lines AND we need to add an explosive outside LB for pass rush. We cannot rely on blitzes to provide ALL of our pressure.
Wilson has definitely been disappointing so far. He can't slow down the gunner (ever) on punts and did you see him back away from tacking Hester on the one return? Terrible... He needs to really work this offseason to improve.
Question, I wasn't able to watch todays game (i was setting up my new 60" plasma.) Was Lowrey in the game today as a CB or as a Safety or what role?
safety mostly. Had a pick for a td I thought that was going to be a momentum daggar that carried the Jets to a win but as soon as Keller dropped a td pass it was all downhill.
Yes, we all witnessed what the lack of pressure led to, so naturally we all clamer for a pass rushing demon in the draft. And you are wrong. There are simply too many ways to negate a Lawernce Taylor or Julius Peppers. Double teams. Screens. Running right at him. 2-3 step drops. on and on. A pass rushing 'specialist' ONLY helps negate the 30-40 yard deep routs that take 5-6 seconds to develop. No D-line can consistantly pressure the QB in 1.5 - 2 seconds. And that's all the time Brady needs to shread a defense. Play after play. Give me 4-5 Revis's over a pass rusher any day, any time. Rex is spot on. Just can't have too many top tier DB's.
I noticed that play on Hester's run as well. I trust that Westhoff will explain to Wilsonwhat he is supposed to dio on that play. Also, I agree that I have been seeing him trail the gunner on too many punt returns. If he can't play on defense you would think at least he could contribute on ST.
This secondary needs to gel. First year many of them play together... Hopefully everyone comes back next year and they carry out their assignments better.
Cromartie is getting beat by faster WR like Knox, Hester, and Mike Wallace... Pass-rush also has to be accounted for
Yourself and little fags like you are a disgrace to Jets fandom. How long have you been a fan? 5 yrsmax? You havent seen shit. Grow a pair of nuts and report back to me ya giant pussy.
Keep in mind that the turf in Chicago is the worst in the NFL. Advantage goes to the receivers- they know where they are running and the defense has to react.
Cromertie killed us worse on some of those runs where he did his "ole" tackle or was driven off the ball easily by a 180 lb WR. Just a soft, one dimensional guy. Rex or someone needs to call this guy out bcause he's not weak nor is he small, he just lacks heart.
True that...I thought (hoped) I'd see a little more out of him as the season progressed...but no. He is what he is. Maybe he thinks he's playing basketball.
He's saying our pass rush was bad last year too. The difference this year is our secondary is playing poorly. Specifically, the awful safeties we have back there. We have enough talented top tier players but our second tier players and second stringers are not cutting it. We're not getting enough from the draft. We desperately need safeties, linebackers and pass rushers. Those are a lot of needs.
Then why wasn't he on Wallace last week or Knox this week? Funny how they stopped matching him on the #1's once he tweaked the other hammy. He was on Sanders (their THIRD receiver) every time I looked up last week and I have no idea who he was on this week, but it wasn't Knox.
