there is a lot of trust that Rex will make the necessary changes this offseason. Is this the same Rex that left Smith, Mulligan, and Hunter in as starters for the entire season after poor game play?
Or is it the same Rex that said after Shotty called 60 passes against the Giants, "I didn't realize that." Or the same Rex that coaches a team filled with undisciplined O-lineman that get what seems like 5 false starts a game. Or a team that gave up 126 points on turnovers? Or a team that has "captains" that quit mid game? Or a team that went from 8-5 to 8-8 without playing a team with a winning record? Rex, in my opinion, lost a fair amount of good will this year.
This season is worse than the 08 one that cost Mangini his job. Rex will get a pass for two stright AFCCG's but Schotty should have never survived the 08 collapse after the Seattle debacle, he better not survive this one. If he does next year will be Rex's last with the Jets.
[ Everyone is blaming Holmes. May be he is the only one with balls who is defiant enough to stand up and say ENOUGH! I am tired of everyone bashing Holmes. If more players had his passion, just maybe we would have played like it mattered a long time ago. This team gave UP a long time ago, everyone knows it and maybe just maybe Holmes was fed up with good reason!!!!
I fully understand why the team is upset with Holomes but i think Holmes' frustrations are far more than just this one game. He is passionate about football and the poor direction that this team has been heading all season long. I think that it all came to a head in this game. If maybe more players had his passion, we would not be 8-8 and missing the playoffs!
I don't know what you were watching but I didn't see any of that so called passion today or lately. Holmes looks like a man who gets a pay check and doesn't care.
And you can say that about half the team. They all collect the paycheck and don't show up. Holmes wasn't that guy before - maybe he got tired of carrying the load early on for a quarterback that isn't worth it and doesn't throw to him when it matters!
Did anyone see how Defensive REX got? He seems to be losing it. Where we are at tuck your tail in between ur legs and walk Rex fix the issues of this team "If you don't chase a super bowl your a loser! I'm not a loser!" He is def losing it
That's true. If more of the Jets had Holmes' (lack of) passion and had simply quit, they might have managed a 6-10 record and missed the playoffs. He was accused by a teammate of having these issues all season.
In life you don't always get everything get thrown at you he needs to NOT be selfish its a team sport
Did it matter in Philly when he was letting balls go right through his hands or when he was fumbling balls away? Or maybe when he was getting flagged for his idiotic celebration? Just so I know, when did it not matter to Holmes any more? Who knows, maybe it started to matter again when Holmes realized he was going to have his consecutive game with a reception broken.
You hit the nail on the head. IMO, the biggest problem with the team is that their is no leadership whatsoever. The Star players are the quiet guys(Harris, Mangold, Brick and Revis is also quiet to an extent). LT is the only leader on this team. When you have guys on your team like Holmes and Cromartie who have big ego's, you need locker room guys that can control a locker room. The Jets don't have Richardson, Jones, Woody, Jenkins, Faneca, Ellis, or any of those locker room guys anymore. No leadership whatsoever on this team. Its disgraceful!
Rex has got to stop trying to be one of the boys. Club Jets has to end and people have to be accountable for their actions. I was saying to myself at halftime that I hope Rex tells his offensive line that the next guy who goes offsides is benched. What happens in the second half. Mulligan grabs a guys face mask and nothing happens.
