Has he though? Did he ever play with a pro bowl tackle or guard? Did he ever have anything on defense outside of two good pass rushers? When James left Indy Peyton spent the better part of a half a decade without a sufficient running game. I understand the gaps in his game and his lackluster performances in the playoffs but he's never had much around him like the Brady's and Roethlisbergers of the world have had.
Laughable. Harrison was great. James and Wayne were very good. Everyone else Manning played with his whole career with a parade of nobodies
good god please make it stop. the Manning excuses are pure comedy, the man has played w/ elite talent around him since day 1 in this league.
I don't think everyone should be too worried about the jets ripping off 4 or 5 wins by the end of this year, even after this win. We won the turnover margin 4 - 0 and only won by 7. That's not going to happen again this season. We also still only scored 20 points, and throughout this entire season (minus the Chargers game), we have score 17 - 23 pretty much every time. At the very most I see us winning 2 more games this year. The Bills are beating us again. The Dolphins will beat us atleast once and maybe twice. The Pats are going to beat us. The Vikings defense will hold us to less than 17 points. The Titan game is a complete toss up. My point is, let's just enjoy this win because we are still bad enough, and will still be locked in to a Top 5 pick. If we really want Marcus, trading up to #2 with the Jags when we are #4 will not take that much, probably just our 2nd round pick.
Tarik Glenn was a 3 time PB LT Jeff Saturday 6 time PB, 2 time AP C he has had talent everywhere. James was gone and they won a SB w/ the running game leading the way so yeah. The D's have allowed less PPG in regulation in postseason than the supposed "great" Pats Ds. he's had it all, if he played closer to reg season Peyton he'd have 4-5 SB titles. Brady had Manning's talent for basically one full season- 2007 and he shattered records and led his team to 16-0 and another SB trip. Brady or Ben on the Indy/Den teams Manning has been on and they win 4-5 SBs.
Please stop embarrassing yourself. I realize it's your *thing*, but it's not really conducive to the rest of us having a productive conversation.
Peyton just can't handle the pressure in the playoffs. Put him into a regular season game where there really isn't much on the line, and he is the greatest QB ever, bar none. Put him in the pressure cooker called the NFL playoffs and he has choked over and over again. In 2006 he lucked into facing Rex Grossman in the Super Bowl.
you can't have a productive conversation by saying Peyton played w/ a "parade of nobodies". you couldn't look more foolish if you tried.
Nonsense. In the playoffs, his teams had less talent than the teams he was playing. Even our Jets team in 2009, if you took away the QBs, had more talent than the Colts that year. And you can't forget the coaching either. Manning actually made Tony Dungy, who is a bad NFL head coach, a Super Bowl champion.
that title was spoon fed to him. KC at home, at Bal, Brady w/ Reche Caldwell and Jabar Gaffney as his 2 top weapons at home, Rex Grossman in the SB.
we had the best player outside of Manning in Revis. they were more talented pretty much everywhere else.
We had better running backs, receivers, offensive line, linebackers, secondary and kickers ... but other than that, you're right.
OL comparable RBs comparable how in the world did we have better WRs? LBs? debatable secondary? w/o Revis we weren't better but w/ him sure. Kickers? he has had great kickers post Vanderjagt(the Peyton version of kickers by the way). the lengths people go to make excuses for Peyton is beyond comical. How come w/ similar talent a year earlier, a weaker sched, no Brady to deal w/ and Brett Favre as our QB could we not even make the playoffs w/ all that amazing talent?
Tony Dungy went 139 - 69 in his career and went to the playoffs 11 out of 13 seasons as a head coach. Yeah he should have atleast 3 Super Bowl titles, but if that's the resume of a bad coach, then there have only been about 5 good coaches in the history of football. He turned the Bucs, who were the worst franchise in the history of the NFL, into a winner. That's all I need to know. That's like trying to say Joe Maddon is a bad manger because he didn't win the World Series with the Rays. Doesn't make any sense at all.
Nope. We had the best offensive line the league. Nope. We had two very good tailbacks and the best FB in the league. Simple. Our receivers were better players than their receivers. Nope. But we did have Revis ... so, again, nope. Statistically speaking, Feely was simply better than Stover - 83% to 81% with more kicks. I don't know ... maybe because Favre tore a tendon in his throwing arm? Before he got hurt, we were the best team in the league.
The fact that you're even trying to compare the Colts defense to the Patriots or Steelers defenses of their championship runs is laughable. We're talking about defenses regarded as all time great.
why do I waste my time people that clearly don't watch football? so statistically speaking Feely was better(even though % was very close) thus automatically giving us the edge? but "our receivers were better players than their receivers" Reggie Wayne: 100 recs, 1264 yds, 10 TDs Braylon/Cotch combined: 92 recs, 1362 yds, 7 TDs I will stop now. there's just no point.
To me, the three most damning things about Dungy are ... 1. When he left Tampa Bay, Gruden (who is no Bill Belichick) stepped in and won the Super Bowl with the exact same team the next year. 2. When he left Indianapolis, Caldwell (who is no Bill Parcells) stepped in and went to the Super Bowl with the exact same team the next year. 3. His entire coaching tree blows.
The Pats Ds are not considered all time great Ds, Pitt's probably aren't either but they were much better than NE's. how many SBs were the great Steeler Ds winning pre Big Ben? NE's Ds tried to blow the first 2 SBs and did blow the last 2. Indy's Ds w/ Peyton allowed less pts than the "great" Pats Ds. the difference btw those teams was at QB. switch the QBs and the Indy wins numerous SBs while NE is lucky to win one.
