I was hoping that we wouldn't win any more games this season, and we could almost certainly get the 1st, 2nd or 3rd pick. Realistically, it was looking like we might not win another game against any good or average teams and we might pick up a win against the Titans or Vikings because they are also pretty bad. With a 2 win season, we might have a chance to draft a franchise QB. Players can develop whether we win or lose. The players that we need to develop are Amaro and Pryor. The more we are losing, the more we will throw the ball, so Amaro can only benefit if we are losing games. Pryor was barely on the field today because of this fluke Jarrett who Rex is now going to say is a future pro bowler.
Because teams like the Bucs exist. Do you think they are going to pass up taking a potential franchise QB?
Unless you're being sarcastic or facetious, hat's absurd and one of the stupidest things I've ever seen posted on a Jets fan board. Taking a quality QB prospect is supposed to set the team back for 10 years? How exactly? The only way it could possibly set the team back is if the same stupid CS is still in place. The Jets need a quality QB not some mediocre hold the fort type or game manager.
ROFLMAO! You are totally clueless. Winston has a TON of talent but he has no character and is stupid beyond words. He's more likely to wind up in prison on death row than he is to win a SB.
How many teams passed up Teddy Bridgewater, Johnny Manziel and Derek Carr this year despite needing a franchise QB? Did the team that took their guy in Bortles make a clearly good selection in the process? Yeah, it's quite possible that one or both of Mariota and Winston could slide some. Not likely, but possible.
So because we've had a bad draft history, we should give away all our draft picks every year and not draft again and that's gonna make us better? ROFLMAO!!! Admit it...this team has driven you insane.
Plus the NFL's LITTERED with guys that became 'franchise QB's beyond the first five picks in the draft, and guys who didn't despite being in the top five.
Bridgewater and Carr were not consensus early first round picks. Thats why teams passed on them. Manziel was seen as a huge risk. You were either going to get a great player for the future or he'd be a complete bust. His draft position could have been anywhere from one of the first few picks to the late first round where he eventually went. Mariota is seen as a better QB prospect than every single QB from last year's draft, and Winston seems to have the same type of risks that Manziel had but his skill set as a pocket passer is better than Manziel's.
Personally I don't give a shit what this means for the draft. The goal of the game is to win. They won, and it was fun. Appreciate it when you get it.
Having the 3rd pick instead off the 7th pick does not make the team better. The Jets are proof that there are no guarantees in the draft.
Not in the slightest but tanking in order to get a high pick with our history makes as much sesne as banging a hooker who has aids
