Breece is probably thinking that he has a couple years of legit effort left in his body, so why should he squander them with the Jets?
I was in favor of trading him at the deadline last year and then again in the offseason, but after watching 3 games of this awfulness, they need to keep him. We have almost no running game now, but we'll have even less of one without him.
I remember being so excited for this guy. In his early games he looked electrifying. Such a smooth runner and deceptively fast... he was becoming the heart of the offense. Then he was hit helmet-to-helmet in the Broncos game and tore his ACL. He has shown flashes since then but doesn't look the same player.
Every player on this team but the two tackles, the TE, McDonald and the two Williams brothers should be trade bait for draft picks.
Every player on this team but the two tackles, the TE, should be trade bait for draft picks. fixed it for ya.
Not sure why you don’t try to move him. It’s not to say that Allen is better or anything like that, but there’s not a chance in hell Breece re-signs here. And I imagine he’d hold out rather than play on the tag. Get a couple picks for him and move on.
An offense devoid of talent and you guys wanna trade the only guy left with it how about you give him 25 carries instead of 14. How about you don’t take him out so Braelon Allen can piss the away a good drive again
The more you run Breece the more business decisions he's going to make. He's already doing it, pulling up early to run out of bounds or letting himself be taken down in the open field. Trade him. This season is already cooked. Go grab Edwards off the Commanders PS.
We should have traded Ahmad (not calling him Sauce anymore until he gets an INT). Since that ship sailed, I rather trade Braelon Allen. He’s a scat back in a 240 lbs body. He’s a microcosm of our fake toughness.
What is the case for keeping Breece if you can get a 3rd round pick? There is a very unlikely chance he’ll be on the team next year. Does anyone think he’ll re-sign here? Does anyone think he wouldn’t hold out if he’s tagged? He’s already dogging it. The case to keep him this year is if we’re still developing a young high drafted QB. We’re not. We’re effectively eliminated from the playoffs already. It’s just good team building. And then unfortunately we have to seek out a running back in free agency or the draft next year (again). This is sad but realistically where we are whether we trade Breece at the deadline or he walks in the offseason. He’s not going to be a Jet in 2026 regardless.
My pros and cons for Breece Pros Still displays some of the speed that got us excited in 2022 Willing and able pass blocker, within reason Solid ball security Excellent at catch-and-run Not a loud vocal diva type, even when he's not happy Cons (IMO) Apparent effort isn't there, not like it was before the injury Has one ACL injury already, soft tissue doesnt heal much stronger like a broken bone This season he has been laying-up some plays to run out of bounds (and sometimes get soft-tackled in the open field) and leave yards on the field From his own words, he wants to be in a different situation It's only going to get worse if the team keeps losing He has solid trade value for a contender that lost it's starting RB, when/if I could come up with more, but the Cons as they are fill me with more dread than the pros make me hopeful.
Imagine if Breece Hall was on the Chiefs. 200 all purpose yards every week last night the Jets barely used him and he had 111 who are we gonna get in the 3rd round? A corner that never plays probably
He makes more sense on a team like that, the Jets want to beat you up on the ground and he's a finesse back. Maybe if they had prioritized passing, a great dump-off guy like him would be useful. But Fields can't even get into a rhythm doing that, he's a basketcase sometimes.
