i hope we can pick him up. i know he had a career year last season, but ive never been a huge TJ fan. and outside of Marion Barber, LT is one my fav non-Jets.
As per nfl gridiron gab http://www.nflgridirongab.com/2010/03/13/rumor-says-tomlinson-to-pick-the-jets-over-the-vikings/ Rumor says Tomlinson to pick the Jets over the Vikings Posted by Adam Warwas under 2010 Free Agency, Minnesota Vikings, New York Jets Just a little while ago, Kevin Seifert at ESPN stated that Ladanian Tomlinson would be having dinner with Jets officials this evening and spend the night in New York. Then, a few minutes later, PFT passed along a ?strong? rumor that Tomlinson has made up his mind and will soon become the newest member of the Jets. Which leaves me wondering why I paid so much attention to this story? hours that I could have spent, I don?t know, talking to my wife or playing Madden.
yep. Making the general statement. we need a ruling on this board that PFT news cannot be taken seriously anymore. They are way too unreliable.
i mean wow...never thought id hear LT and the Jets...imagine more jersey sales going through the roof plus youd have to think fans will be drawn to this even more and maybe woody gets a few more PSL's out of it
will not believe any rumors from anywhere. as far as i am concerned LT is not a jet till it is reported by ESPN. on another note. did you know LT is only about 2000 yards away from passing curtis martin on the all time rushing list. that kind of sucks since there is a chance he will get it before martin is in the HOF
Keep telling yourself that... Olivea was one of the best right tackles in the league a few years ago. You think the Chargers just gave him a huge contract for no reason? If Olivea wasn't such an idiot, he'd be a consistent All-Pro in this league.
I'm not going to root against Tomlinson if he signs with the Jets but I think that the Jets can draft someone who would perform better than him at this point.
I don't understand what you don't like about this potential signing? This just makes so much sense to me. LT was banged up last season. He played behind a swiss cheese offensive line and in a shitty system run by Norv Turner. He's one of the best receiving backs in this league. He offers better value in that category than anyone the Jets can get in this draft. He's also a hell of a pass blocker. I can't think of anyone else available that will help out our offense more. I'm all about getting younger too, but having an experienced veteran in the backfield with Mark Sanchez could be huge in certain situations. Also, who's to say the Jets don't draft a late round back even with LT on the roster?
I'm Ron Burgundy? He has been banged up consistently. I don't think that will change just because of his jersey. He is a good receiving back but at this point do we need to spend that much money on a back whose best feature is his receiving skills at this point. LT does not have the explosiveness he used to. At this point he is JAG.
I guess you don't understand questions... Nobody said it was going to change. He's never suffered a serious injury. In a limited role, he has the chance to stay fresh and be a major contributor. AT THIS POINT, it isn't that much money. AT THIS POINT, Thomas Jones is a one dimensional player. AT THIS POINT, LT isn't. AT THIS POINT, he's worth more. I don't give a fuck if he's not the same player he used to be. He'd still provide great veteran leadership and he'd be a check down option that Sanchez can rely on. LT could be huge in Sanchez's development. Again, the Chargers offensive line is terrible. Darren Sproles looked mediocre in 2009 as well. Calling LT just another guy is just stupid. More good than bad can come out of this signing.
Aren't you a grad student? Grammar should be a little more important. Turf toe is a killer for HBs and a recurring problem. It could very well limit him. As I said, I'm not going to be pissed if Tannenbaum signs him but I'm not expecting him to be a stat machine. Most Jets fans cannot seem to fathom him as just a contributor. I do not see his skills as warranting that much more than Jones and, frankly, the Jets can get the same receiving yards out of Leon. How much is Sanchez going to learn about how to play QB from a halfback? A few notes on how to pass to the flat? Some details about how Rivers' popgun arm helped his 6'3"+ WRs? If Sanchez needs veteran leadership then the Jets should be looking at QBs, not HBs. Since when was Darren Sproles a future HOF? When has Norval had an HB with great numbers since Emmit Smith? What has his running game produced that was so amazing in the past 3 seasons? He has great field vision and he can lower his head. The Jets can get that production out of Toby Gerhart.
