if you're referring to the 1 other thread i started 1 month ago then sure.

Can I get a thread where we can dump people who have nothing to contribute and instead just attack each other?

then block me. :) I won't mind I promise. I haven't gained a single thought provoking read from any of your posts in the 13 years I've been here.

I kind of agree. I think the idea that Smith is a 1 trick pony is overblown. Especially last year he picked it up around his game especially in the games where Steve Smith vanished. He's progressed beyond a 1 trick pony, still his strength is deep but he's capable of more overall.

I like the idea of restructuring Harvin. BUT, even if we do and the money is converted if we cut him down the road we'll take on dead money. His career has shown teams bail on him and for locker room and games played reasons. It's definitely worth keeping him on talent alone don't get me wrong, but the restructure will also have to include money reduction due to dead money ramifications and his history. I have a bad feeling Harvin could turn into a Santonio Holmes dead money situation. that contract is one that murdered our cap initially.

To be quite honest I'd like to take a real hard run at Cobb before I worry about any of the other FA's out there. My order of signing would go something like:

    Cobb
    Re-Sign Harvin
    Crabtree
    T. Smith

And...I'm flip flopping on Crabtree and Harvin because they both are a bit of a head case but Crabtree is far and away a better receiver than Harvin but Harvin is the better overall offensive weapon. Actually not a bad problem to have about right now. In fact, I might "overpay" a little for Cobb to get his skill set without the "head case" problems.

I would LOVE Cobb, but do you think there's a realistic chance he leaves GB? I know it's been reported Oakland wants him, but even still I'm weary on if Cobb will even hit the market long enough to seriously field offers. I mean listen, if Cobb is available I agree completely he should be priority #1 without a doubt.

That's kind of what I meant by over paying. I'd EASILY drop an extra $1million per year on the guy just to get him without all the freakin' distractions that come with the other two. Definitely. I mean...we are going to HAVE to over pay for someone...might as well be Cobb. C.J. is coming to the Jets hook, line and sinker...he is drooling to get into Gaily's offense again and won't be difficult to sign.

I'd rather have Harvin but Smith would not be a bad plan B

    +10000

I'd be perfectly fine paying above market for Cobb. If this scenario unfolds I would just hate to get into a bidding war with Oakland who we know well and good will pay 200% market value LOL. But yes, if the Jets paid Cobb more than his perceived value I'd be fine with it. I'm also praying for Spiller, I think he would add a tremendous dimension to our offense.

Offensively from a skill perspective, if we come out with Ivory/Spiller and Cobb/Decker/Kerley/Rookie I would be more than thrilled.

Defensively, grab Worilds, Cro, and Maxwell and then hit the mid market...

Then head into draft and go BPA.

And of course add a vet QB (ahem Fitz/Locker).

Yeah...I'm kind of stoked to see what C.J. can bring to the party with Ivory. In my book Ivory > Jackson and with Spiller to be that change of pace guy would be a real nice tandem. I'm also on the 'team' of keeping Powell...he is VASTLY underrated and is an absolute must sign as well... However, I can see him walking for a team willing to give him a shot at starting.

Your concern about Cobb is real though....Can we get him OUT of Green Bay? It's the converse side of things...if I'm Cobb I take a $1million LESS to stay with a guy like Rodgers and compete for a crown for the next 5 - 10 years as opposed to going to a team like the Jets/Raiders and having my head kicked in for the same time period.

I have no doubt we could beat Oakland...Davis Sr. is no longer hanging around so I don't see them doing the ole' Raider super over pay anymore...we'll see though...

Agree on Ivory and also agree that Powell is incredibly underrated. Not 2 years ago the guy was an effective if not serviceable starter for us at worst. That's a real nice place to be for a 3rd string guy behind 2 injury prone backs (Ivory/Spiller). The concern in losing him really would be if another team makes him an offer with more of an opportunity to play (Rex). I wouldn't be shocked to see powell make his way to buffalo if Spiller makes his way here. But I'd happily take the exchange.

I also think Cobb would definitely take less to stay in GB for that very reason. If we are to poach him away the money pot would have to be really sweet. If the Jets are willing to give Harvin near his 10.5 mil that hes due in one form or another, I'd much rather see them give that same deal to Cobb. If we offer something like that I don't see GB matching. They have young depth at the position and they do not break bank on any skill players, ever. They are very much a next man up type of org.

Agreed...I'd drop $9/10.5 on Cobb easily!
