Dan Henning? what role did he have in developing Quaterbacks (chad)?....Tell ya he is an under appreciated OC's.... one of Parcells guys
Heres my ideas on the matter... If Mark Sanchez wants to develop into a Hall of Fame type QB he has to eat shit and live game film of all the great QB's there ever was. I think during the off season he should have a Mental game everyday with himself by just watching film of a game and seeing what the QB does and predict a read and see what the QB did in the situation. Just study the greats !!! Game film I think accounts for 90% of being an NFL player and 10% physical... Once you can command a game come up to the line and not even drip a drop of sweat because you know whose coming from where and how to read hot blitz's all you gotta do is get accuracy down after that. but if you dont know where to go with the ball when pressure comes then you lost. Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Dree Brees, Joe Montana, Dan Marino all learned from hands on experience.
Dan Henning is also the reason Jake Delhomme was considered a top QB for a few years. He was the coordinator during their SB run through Delhomme's pro bowl year.
the dude knows what he is doing. he keeps it simple, lots of high percentage throws. Devon Bess is thriving in that system. They beat the Pats and didn't use the Wildcat. I have a lot of respect for them finally not using a gay gimmick to get a win. Henning would make Sanchez look like Montana at this point. Cutesy makes him look like a sporadic Jeff Garcia. Fire Schotty.
EXCELLENT ANALYSIS !!! Parcells knows what he is doing. He selected Henning for a very good reason, he knows how to coach QBs. :metal:
Hackett + Pennington was like doubling down on safe. That's why the Jets offense was so flat during the post 2002 period. Hackett + Sanchez might be interesting, you'd have the tension of a horizontal play it safe OC vs the vertical risk taking QB. If nothing else it would be very entertaining to watch the sideline conversations after FG attempts and Int's.
I think he actually left the booth and went down to the sidelines sometimes during his last season as OC.
The Hackett-Sanchez mixture of play-it-safe and horizontal passing is an interesting proposition. Given the amount of talent that he had to work with in Chad, VY, and Cutler, do you think that Hackett did a lot to develop those QB and meet their full potential? I think that Hackett tailors his offense to the available personnel with a strong bias towards the run. Denver's offense was good that year that Hackett was in there, but there was a tremendous amount of receiving talent on that team. VY has definitely improved this year, though I haven't seen enough Tennessee games to know what they're doing. And Chad was himself. It might be interesting to watch, but I just don't know if Hackett would push our QB to reach his potential. Isn't there anyone in the college ranks that we could pick up?
With the kind of money this kid got and the importance his success is to this franchise, they better get somebody to raise Bill Walsh from the dead!
Every quarterback that has been with Schotty has improved after he was gone. Schotty would have trouble potty training a 2 year old.
