Dont like that strategy at all

All we do is hire vets...triple feh

the jets need to draftFQB and OL in that order

The Jets draft position isn't so bad right now. Most teams ahead of them do not need quarterbacks. Does anybody know who would have the tie breaker if the Giants win and the Colts lose next week? The Giants are the only team that worries me in this situation. If the Colts finished #2, the Jets could theoretically trade up ahead of the Giants and secure the 2nd QB.

I doubt the Giants would trade with the Jets, in fact they'd be more likely to let a team like Denver trade up for their pick just to spite us. Indy will be very willing to trade their pick this year since they already have Andrew Luck.

If Giants win and Colts lose Giants will pick 3rd and Colts will pick 2nd. So that’s what I am rooting for. Also hoping Woody can use his charms to let Irsay trade the 2nd pick to Jets.

I will be rooting for this as well. The only thing that really worries me about having teams that don't need QBs ahead of us, is that they could all theoretically let a team behind us trade up. This leads me to believe the Jets SHOULD trade to #2 and grab Darnold or Rosen, just to be safe, but this will depend on the games this weekend. The Jets could finish with the #4 pick if the stars align, and there could be 4 QBs going in the top 5 picks this year.

I feel the Jets are long overdue to draft a top ranked QB. They haven't done it since Sanchez, and this year's class is supposed to be FAR better than the 09 class. I don't normally like mortgaging the future, but it's well worth it, this go around, IMO. The Jets have a lot of young depth from the last couple years, it would be acceptable to lose a couple 2nds and a future 1st to move up. Getting a franchise QB is the most important thing, the Eagles aren't regretting trading up for Wentz now.

If we manage a win our draft position would not change much.

The upside to winning would be that Petty may show enough to prove that we only need a starting QB and that he may have the makings of a reliable backup (unless we win an ugly 3-0 defensive struggle).

If we finish in the 7th spot. Would theoretically would be the cost of moving up the the 2nd spot should Indy get it?

For me. If it meant we had to give them this years 1st, next years 1st and a 2nd round pick id be all in. We have an extra 2nd round this year and we need a top QB almost no matter the cost.

7th pick is valued at 1,500 pts. The 2nd pick is valued at 2,600 points so they'll need at least 1,100 or so points which is both 2nd round picks plus more. If they wind up with the 5th pick that's valued at 1,700 pts.

I think they're better off keeping draft picks and look to get their QB in their 1st round slot with whoever remains on the board. It's not worth giving up the entire draft for a QB that may not be better than the one they'd get in their regular draft slot.

If Indy is 2 and we are 7, we need to give them 1,100 points at a minimum to get the pick. I don't know how 2019 draft picks are scored, but we would need to give them both #2's in 2018 to get 1,100 points.

That said, if a bidding war develops, we could have to pay alot more. Look at what Washington gave up to move from #5 or #6 (I forget) to #2. Mostly future picks with slot uknown, but definitely a huge premium.

Doesnt really matter now if they win or lose, the result will be the same as the characters that got us to this point have been rewarded with more time for OJT.
