Well, I looked at the other angle and Cumberland is blocking Geno's arm until the ball is clearly loose, so it's impossible to tell by that angle. But CBS made a point to pause when you actually see the ball being loose as if it was damning evidence. Tough call, but not too tough to overturn IMO. I'm not going to spend any more time on it because it never should have happened in the first place.
Totally agree with this abyz. Hey...Geno hater here. Just wasn't convinced last year until late in the year and that's not patting myself on the back...it was obvious he showed signs. Bottom line is this...he has looked more like a qb..and more importantly...ACTED more like a successful QB then Sanchez did in any of his what...4 years? His flaw right now is that he is high on passes. That seems like a very easy thing to improve on. Just really like the kid now. Tough kid. Says the right things. Yes to on your other post. Someone got in his ear and he slid the rest of the way. I guess I know when Im starting to like a Jet QB when they are not sliding but going head first and I get pissed. Sanchez received applause from me every time he went head first. Now that's how to judge whether you like a Jet qb. Have to remember that one.
Even so . . . his knee was down and THEN he got touched. The instant he gets touched, the play is over. how can the ball have started to come out before he was touched? I don't see how he wasn't down. I couldn't believe they didn't overturn that one. I agree with you though, Geno has got to learn to pick his battles better.
As a giants fan, i like Geno. He has a habit of going head first into linemen and defensive backs but the kid has balls. He wants to win and you can't be mad at that.
That really is an excellent point. One thing that nobody can argue with is that his knee was down before contact..before a fumble...so it had to be touch then fumble.
Geno didn't sway me until this preseason, Jay. I didn't expect anything from him. I don't want him to be average, and stupid mistakes factor into that, but damn. He's confident like I didn't expect. I disagree about acting more like a successful QB, though. Sanchez was money in the playoffs. If Geno does that, holy shit. I'm waiting for that second gear, against second tier defenses. I'm not fooling myself into thinking that Geno is going to show against the best defenses we face. But the truly best defenses in the league are NFC. Pray we find that out in an unlikely Jets Super Bowl. Pray for John!
First off, I took a look at your posts when I realized you were a Giants fan, and I expected to see some combative stuff, and I was pleasantly surprised to see that you are a realistic fan. Welcome to this forum. As far as Geno having that habit you speak about, I am worried about that. He ran head first into 3 defenders once and lost the ball, then later ran for 20+ but then dove head first again and got drilled by Woodson. He ran a couple more times and slid like a pro. You can only surmise that his coaches were in his face about not sliding. And Jets fans can only hope.

He does have a confidence about him. Agreed. While we all talk about Rodgers lighting up the Jets secondary, I want him to put the ball down their throats in Green Bay. Green Bays defense can be had big time. I hear you, still big time jury out against big time defenses. I want him to really have a big game THIS week. This is exactly how I feel. You can whine about those "mistakes," but be careful what you wish for. The last thing I want is for Geno to start second-guessing himself because of some fluky results to aggressive plays. If Woodson doesn't make that sick grab, this thread is totally different. If the refs don't bungle that fumble call, this thread is totally different. If two fluky turnovers and one (admittedly TERRIBLE) sack are the only repercussions for playing with poise, confidence, and aggression, I will absolutely take my chances with that. Yo Geno, go out there on Sunday and play exactly the same. Tear shit up, kid.
He has to make better decisions no doubt. But one of the last things we need is him playing to not make a mistake.
Ummm...the 19 yard sack he took, negating a FG, in a game he made close by engineering a 10-17 point swing? Int 77 Oak. Fumble -3, prob -7 Sack -3 But hey his completion pct. was great. try looking at the stats, and tell me how the Jets should need to survive an onside kick to seal that game.... When your QB swings the game between -10 to -17 all by his little lonesome, probably not a good thing.

....all correctable mistakes I used to work for my Dad. He usually had 45 to 50 employees. Once in a while they fucked up. He taught me many things, but one thing stood out. He said...."never blame a man for trying."
I don't think the int should simply be written off as a great play from a veteran db. Woodson had only one int last season.
