Yep, that's pretty much the way I see it. To be clear I am not predicting any great sucess. But there's really nothing to be lost seeing what he can do. I was all for putting Vick in after a week of reps with the first teamers, but I think his admissions this week make that problematic, even though I understand how Vick probably feels about this organization right now. That puts Simms next in line, so they should go there.
Hasn't looked good. I don't expect him to be good I'm just pretty checked out in terms of watching Smith tbh.
I hadn't heard of this Vick stuff because I paid no attention to any sports news the past couple days. As soon as I saw this news moments ago, I immediately thought of Hobert. You are likely correct that the Jets won't do anything. At 1-4 and with how bad Vick played in relief and the fact he only has a 1-year contract, the smart thing would be to simply part ways with Vick now. Do I expect Rex Ryan and Idzik to do that? No.
Lobbying for his new job? C'mon. The way things have gone this week, he's lucky if he ever gets a HC job again. Every flaw he's ever had has been re-exposed this week in dramatic fashion, machine gun style. There's something new every day. And in any other organization, Vick is cut, Ryan is fired, Geno is fined and benched. In Jetland, they're all and still working, their failures nearly ignored. A joke.
There's no way giving Geno or Vick a pass for their recent transgressions is HELPING Rex get another job, if anything it just reinforces the charge Rex is too soft. This is just Rex being Rex, he let Santonio Holmes run amok too (and was still buddy buddy with him when we played the Bears) while teammates and Schotty had to throw him out of the huddle and bench him.
