This makes no sense. They threw more than they ran once.

    what does that mean?

week 1 passed 31 times, ran 36 times. prior to garbage time we ran it 25 times for 70 yds(2.8 YPC), w/ game in hand we ran it 11 times for 99 yds(9 YPC).

week 2 ran 28, threw 22, the plays to win the game came in the pass game.

I can go on and on, running more proves absolutely nothing other than we had leads and were trying to protect them.

It means that the team didn't trust him throwing the ball. And you know what's scary? It's the fact that he wasn't asked to do much. And yet he still threw 20 INT's. Geno was asked to do even though unfairly.

15 of those INts came in 4 games so the other 11 he threw a total of 5.

our rush #s were impressive, our run game was not. It was vastly overrated.

Could you please keep personal attacks out of this forum? This is a discussion about Michael Vick, not about certain posters and their football knowledge or lack thereof.

    Thank you

I didn't derail anything, I offered an on-topic comment about Vick & the Jets:
"this is only a thread about an over-the-hill, injury prone (at this stage of his career) QB. More to the point: Rex & MM wanted Geno to use his feet more down the stretch last year? Hmmm, now just how would that tact play out with the Vickster's soon-to-be 34 year old frame?"

No, you ignored this part (below), which YOU made part of this thread, which you were called on, which you couldn't answer to you coward. You the "self-annointed" one who can't take responsibility for what YOU brought to this thread. You dodged answering to your "I know more about QB than anyone here" declaration when Browning had only challenged you and you alone. You address the point below and I will leave it at that. Or, should you choose to dodge it (again) and try and talk your way around it then I'll just write it off as an egotistical coward weaseling his way out of addressing a statement made; a statement that by extention was a shot directed at all the others on this board. And that has everything to do with this and every other thread.

"I've proven to know more than most everybody else here about QB..." <--- there it is: what do you have to say to "everybody else" here?

This is the last warning, stay on topic.

Who is a better FA QB to compete for a starting role? Adequate backups, yes, but that means you're already giving Geno the starting nod.

What is the reasoning behind having Vick compete with Smith? If you are looking for a long term solution, a soon to be 34 year old who hasn't been able to stay healthy for an entire season since 2006 is not the answer. If they want Smith to compete with someone then they need to draft someone.

SO we'd have Smith, Simms, and a draft pick vying for the first spot... no. not enough experience, not enough to rely on in case Smith doesn't pan out.

McCown and Vick and such aren't long term answers, but they're experienced options who can come in in a pinch or otherwise start in Smiths place. they wouldn't be brought inn to be here more than maybe two years while Smith or somebody else is given a chance to start.

not saying a QB can't be drafted, but that can't be all they do.

I agree they need to have a vet but Vick is not who I would choose. You talk about having not enough to rely on but how can you rely on Vick if he is apt to be injured.

If he is injured, the idea is that Geno will have been developing and learning while Vick is on the field. If Geno can't step it up when stepping in for Vick, he will likely become a career backup. Vick would likely win the QB battle and start, but the coaching staff would want Geno constantly pushing Vick to take over as starter.
