As of right now, I see the Jets in 2007 finishing 4-2 against the AFC East, 2-2 against the AFC North, 3-1 against the NFC East, beating KC and losing to TN. That equals another 10-6 record baring injuries.........
We need to overcome any schedule. Being a SB contender means taking on the entire NFL. We all need to stop thinking AFC Wildcard and start thinking we can take it to the next level and beyond. That means, stop worrying about the f*cking schedules and continue playing great football with the best players you're got, one game at a time. Mangini looks like he can take this team there, so the hell with whatever the schedule is.
dont know about yall but i ready to smack helmets with the GIANTS for all those guys talking smack. last year at the beginning of the season they were talking so much trash saying we were garbage and wouldnt do nothing this season. 10-6 is pretty dam good. so with that i ready to dethrown these punks
Thats what Mangini is preaching and EVERYONE should stick to that plan. Of course we won't have upgraded any of our needs by the start of the season :sarcasm: What about those teams on our schedules having to play us , how many do you think are going to be saying, "ah good we got the jets @home/away!" Not many if any I'd say.
Look the Jets had a good season but we did not particularly sparkle on offense or defense Our running game on either side of the ball still is not good. The fact that we won 10 games this year is a testimony more to our schedule than the quality of our play. This year we were just better then some pretty bad football teams. Next years schedule is more challenging than the one we just completed and we are going to have to be a damn site better to be competitive.
the bears had the easiest schedule in the whole entire nfl do you think they suck as a team???? there in the superbowl!!!!! when given lemons make lemonade...................
Worrying about next year's schedule is a senseless excersize. Things change so much... SO MUCH every year that what appears to be a difficult schedule in all probability may not be after all. And what seems an "easy" schedule to others may turn out to be their worst nightmare. One thing that's a constant in the NFL is change, and teams change so drastically from year to year that there's no sense in even concerning yourself with next year's schedule.
I think the Steelers will be a lot more challenging next year than some of you might like to give credit for. If not for some absolutely BONEHEADED mistakes and penalties, the Steelers would beat the Bengals, Falcons and most likely the Raiders and would be 11-5. Crushes me to think of what this team could have done this year. Next year with a healthy Ben Roethlisberger, I think we'll be much stronger and right back in the hunt for the Super Bowl.
No offense towards you because you're a great poster, but Ben has always been over-rated. He's a mediocre QB at best. You only have 1 WR who's actually alright, and you have a rookie head coach with no cap room. I think the Steelers are certainly a 500 team but I don't look for them to be anything better than that for the next 2 years.
I wrote this in another thread and I think it fits albeit with some editing. I am so sick of this strength of schedule garbage. That's what it is, garbage. You know what every team we played against this year did when they saw "New York Jets" on their schedules? They took their little pencils out and put a big fat W on the game that week. Every team did it last year, every single single one of them. Funny how we beat those teams that thought we were shit and now it was expected of the NYT to win................ There are no easy games in the NFL, well except for the Raiders. If there is one thing we should learn from this season, it is not to doubt that we will get better next year. This CS is not going to pat the players on their collective asses and say," Good season, here is a case of beer have a good offseason, BTW the country club starts in 3 months."...................... No way................................... Brick for instance is going to be handed a key to the weight room and a pallet of protein shakes! Think Vilma, Rhodes, Thomas, Robertson, Mangold, Hobson, L. Washington, B and E Smith and the other young players that progressed so measurably are going to take a step back? Hell no I do not. Next year the CS will not be a rookie CS. They will have another year under their belt. They are going to have another offseason, a real offseason to bring in the type of players that will succeed here. We have 28 mill to at least bring in some FA talent and retain our young Nucleus for many years to come. Then what about the draft. This year our draft class has the possibility of being one of the best if not the best the Jets have ever had. They left no stone unturned and looked for players that were football players, first and foremost, not combine commando's. Their only real slip up looks like the 3rd. round. Heavens knows that they got a lot of the picks correct. Then lets not talk about the pure unadulterated gang rape of Washington to get their 2nd round pick this year. Odds are something like that will happen again. What I have learned from watching this management team operate, it is they know what they are doing. They know how to win, be it game day or draft day. They have a plan and are intelligent about it. I leave you with one question though....... How many teams are taking their little pencils out and scribbling a W the week they play the "New York Jets" this year? Anyway, my point is it is way too early to be scribbling W's and L's because it is tougher. This staff will have this team in better shape talent wise and we all know how well they game plan.
At this point a see a 9-7 record, 10-6 is possible, but its still early in the off-season so my prediction will change.
