I like the call. I'd actually like to see another fake punt try in the next game or two as well. Once it's in other teams heads that you fake punts they hesitate to break downfield on coverage the rest of the time.
I still like the call. It's trusting our defense. Also, if you are going to take the 2 or 3 first downs he got last year you have to take one of these every once in a while with it.
They were immediately within field goal range! Weatherford got the ball at the 6 yard line! That's a lot of trust in the defense.
As bad as the turnover was, I like that Weatherford had the guts to go for it. He made a judgment call and almost pulled it off. Obviously 'almost' doesn't quite cut it, but he's what, 2 out of 3 on fake punts? If the opportunity comes up where he thinks he can make a play, I think it should be his call.
Weatherford is a burner. He ran track at Purdue. I like the call and I hope he gets another shot at another fake soon.
I loved the call... I'm thinking Westhoff has cujones of steel. The game didn't come down to this one call, though. I thought the offense was pretty lackluster today, especially when you get beaten by 3 field goals. Sheesh.
If his foot dosen't hit the paint, it's a great call. Seriously, you gays are some of the most fickle motherfuckers.
He was a 1/2 a yard away from a first down, give him a break. Defense held the Fudge packers to 3 points.
its was a shitlicker call and he is a shitlicker for calling it. anybody who thinks that was a good idea is a complete fucking moron.
Why in the World does this guy have the green light to fake a punt on 4th and 18 from the shadow of his GL? That's bad coaching.
The fact that Weatheford said he didn't realize Sanchez was sacked right before he came into the game, and thought it was 4th & 9 and not 4th & 18, irks me. How was he not told that?
This isnt Ricky Henderson having th egreen light to steal whenever he wants. Its ludicrou that this man has the authority to do that when he feels like running a little bit
But the field goal ultimately was not the difference in the game. Also, fakes have a higher rate of execution in unorthodox situations, a la the onside kick in last year's Super Bowl or the Patriot's onside kick against the Jets when they were up by like 50 points (I'll never forget that bullshit). So I get the call. I don't care about everyone saying how fast Weatherford is...he should have dove head first, with the ball extended in front of him, for the first down.
Anyone trying to defend this play should listen and see Rex's comments about it. Clearly this is something he never would have wanted to happen. He's NOT happy with Weatherford.
