But everyone says we have the best dline in the league......they can't stop the run or rush the passer.Matthews ran for over 100 and looked good doing it
What happened to Snacks after halftime? Was he in the doghouse or did he get hurt? I saw 99 on the nose most of the second half instead of 94.
“They did an exceptional job,” Brown said. “I almost lost my voice on the sidelines. They kept Mallett clean for the most part. It was a thing of beauty. I really like Oday’s demeanor, the kind of intensity he plays with.” Oh well.
How about special team? When I saw Sproles broke off 89 yards for TD, I knew Jets were done. And why anyone would kick in the direction of Sproles - it literally boggles my mind. If I had a say in the war room before the game, I would have strongly advised the punter to [kick the punt out of bounds] so Sproles can't return the punt all the way back to the house. And I was thinking about this from the first quarter and then some - ARE THEY NUTS? WHY ARE THEY PUNTING IN SPROLES'S DIRECTION?
It was an ugly game in all 3 phases but the Jets were still in hailing distance at the end. There's a lot of stuff that needs to be fixed at this point but getting Ivory and Decker back would go a long ways towards doing that. Having Revis healthy would help some too.
Our Dline barely got any pressure. I feel like thats been a recurring theme lately. We definitely miss Sheldon. We do not have anything close to the best d-line in the league, though. Guess just got to see how Williams develops, if we resign Wilk, and what happens with Sheldon.
Every unit sucked today, the same way all 3 units did good last week. Kerley was ok returning punts I guess but other than that the rest was terrible. Stacy didn't do anything on KR, Folk had that horrendous onside kick, Quigley was hit and miss as always, the cover unit couldn't tackle Sproles on that return TD. Where's Westhoff's cane when you need it?
I was very disappointed with our ground game today. Most disappointing aspect of this game. I already knew Fitz was mediocre but today confirmed that Geno will play at some point this season, and probably sooner than later
I think the best way to summarize it is: the Jets got a ton of breaks in the first two games and won them both and couldn't catch a break in this game and lost. At least that's how I see it at this point.
Pretty much. Jets couldn't capitalize on plenty of opportunities. Can't win games -3 in the TO battle. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
-I hate the run blocking scheme. This isn't a brute drive blocking OL anymore.Yes they are big & can be physical but their strength is agility/movement not driving back the line. It's for more counter/cut back type runs that can take advantage of this. On another OL note..I was shocked how well Winters played in Colon's absence. Wasn't really much of a drop off. - I thought the interior DL got good pressure(Williams & Wilk) despite fighting through constant double teams. The edge rush let this team down today. Mauldin clearly isn't all the way back yet & they really missed Reilly's motor on 3rd down. The Jets were overwhelmingly winning the line of scrimmage but the run fits are just a bit off & the tackling stunk. - Not an ideal place for Devin smith to make his debut. For one, He didn't appear full speed. Plus ideally, he debuts as the #3 or 4 & can ease his way into offense & production. Let's see how he falls into place when Decker & Ivory return. - Getting fed up w/ the Enunwa drops. This isn't a #3 WR...he's a #5 hybrid WR/TE at best who cannot be counted on to catch
As bad as we looked we had shot after shot after shot to tie the game only to get let down by interceptions and or dumb penalties. We def missed Decker though I was very impressed with Devin Smith if Fitz had any accuracy he catches 2 touchdowns. I was expecting a loss as we're 0 and 9 now 10 against em but more so we tend to always lay an egg while we're riding high especially at home...they were due for a breakout game. We're still 2 and 1 and the loss came against an NFC oppo which is key...onto London.
Wilk needs to start making some big plays every week if he wants that big contract.....would be nice to see him have a few sacks every week
Have to give the Eagles SOME credit.. We shot ourselves in the foot, but they seemed like they wanted it more.. What pissed me off above all was the lack of urgency late in the game by our offense. We're down by 10 and everyone is lolly gagging up to the fucking line. We wasted like 5-6 minutes on that drive for the 2nd TD IIRC. We don't have a TE.. Sorry.. Cumberland is fucking garbage. I hate that fucking guy.. always have. Q Enunwa sucks, too. Oline had a shit game. Sucks for Zac Stacy and Bilal Powell. Our special teams still sucks.. and cost us 7 Brandon Marshall made a boneheaded stupid, unexplainable mistake that cost us 7. Fitz had a shit game, but still is a better option than Eugene. The refs were absolutely horrendous today and most of the calls cost us. A phantom PI, they missed EAgle holds left and right. Missed a few PI's against the Eagles. That call on Demario on that tackle was horseshit, too. AWFUL. And our defense was okay today, but I won't praise them like some of you are. Key 3rd downs given up again (rex-esque) and left guys wide open left and right. Sproles owned us, today. Q Coples is a fucking bust and i can't stand him. What a moron on 3rd and 18 or whatever and he gets a hands to the face call that ends the game. We would have had a minute and change to see if we could tie the game.. IDIOT! Fitz did his best Geno impression today with key picks in the red zone and after we get a fumble late in the game when we needed to... Unreal. Win in London and shut me the fuck up, please.
Our defensive line got absolutely dominated in the first half. we got nowhere near bradford and he had all day to throw. second half was better but they had a lead and played it safe. also, david harris was certainly not good today, and would have cost us another easy touchdown if sproles didnt drop that pass right in his hands. we deserved to lose this game. horrible untimely penalties that were all discipline type ones. and horrible decisions and turnovers. we also got outplayed in the trenches on both ends of the ball. we need to man up, if we play this soft next week it will be more of the same.
i dont give the eagles any credit. they didnt really play well and they left a ton of plays on the field. dropped 2 big plays/possible touchdowns, fumbled on a run late in the game, bradford missed 3 or 4 easy throws with time in the pocket, their D left guys wide open we didnt execute on either side of the ball or on special teams. we gave the ball up. we were the much better team, we just continually shot ourselves in the foot. this was a BAD loss
i said after week 1 and again after week 2 this was one of my biggest concerns and was called crazy. blitzing or 4 man rush we arent getting much pressure at all.
-Fitzy arm worries me more than his decision making....devin smith had his man beat numerous times, but fitzy was throwing duck after duck and it finally caught up with him on the touchback int. -Run game without ivory isn't a run game at all -Gailey is turning into every other OC we've had (except for sporano), underwhelming and anemic. -Kick return without owusu back there is hard to look at. -Special teams in general is worrying. -Tackling was spottty...made ryan matthews look like marshawn lynch at times -Defense was pretty good but was put in terrible spots due to offense
