Marshall is at times an impact player. And I'm not going to jump off his bandwagon because he made a couple of major guffaws today that helped lead to our loss. And that offset some of the good plays he made. But I'm not sure what his balance of good vs bad is going to be. I kind of think what we've seen so far is what we're going to get.
Good points all, but I think one plus was missed. Kerley made a serious effort today to make a case for being more involved. He wasn't awesome, but he did make some plays and showed some real passion IMHO. I wasn't watching closely enough to be sure, but I don't think he was in all that many plays, so it really stood out to me that he made the most of his time on the field (in a positive way, not a butt fumble or toss the ball to the other team Bradon Marshall sorta way).
Who else are we gonna put in his place? Not trying to be snide, it is a genuine question. Given that all of our LB positions are iffy players in some form or another, except perhaps Harris, we are thin. After all, people are screaming for Demario Davis to get the boot and Coples still looks like he doesn't really belong as a LB. Throw in Pace and you're replacing 3 of 4 starters. Yikes!! It is like playing whack-a-mole, no matter which hole you plug there will still be a problem somewhere else.
I like Powell, but he didn't have a good game today rushing. Granted our OL forgot to block but Bilal wasn't hitting the holes that were opened for him.
That game yesterday reminds me the afc Pittsburgh game,we started flat and was already to late. Like the colts game we need to score every chance we get.
1. Devon Smith has a lot to learn, fight for the ball, get inside position, as he runs he got no separation, if you can't catch the pass make sure the defender doesn't either 2. The running game only goes as far as Chris Ivory takes it, Powell is more a change of pace 3. Our LB's a re a disaster in pass coverage 4. Stacey is not a KR, but should have had more carries 5. I cut Marshall slack on the brain fart, at least he was trying to make something happen, he was our whole offense yesterday 6. For a game where Cro and Revis were never beaten, every pass was complete in LB coverage or against Buster 7. Enunwa has Anthony Becht's hands except for a great catch falling down 8. Quigley vs Sproles = we lose
Enunwa has failed on his audition so far. There's no legit reason for him to get more snaps than Kerley when Decker returns to the lineup. All Kerley does is produce when given an oppty. Running game looked putrid yesterday. So did the entire offense for the most part. The D needs to play the run better and made Ryan Matthews look way too good.
Two weeks in a row our run game has been nonexistent. That's a serious problem.and I don't want to hear this 17-0 crap. When it was 3-0 10-0, it was nonexistent
What about the 2 fumbles and the interception he was responsible for? What's the point of catching a TD pass late in the game down by 30 when you turn the ball over early in the game when it matters? Who cares about these garbage stats.
You're actually right. Been banging the drum on Willie Young, he was inactive for the Bears again. He's ten times the edge rusher Pace is, I don't get why we don't trade for him.
Enunwa did OK. Made some plays, had a drop. Was wide open a bunch of other times when Fitz either didn't see him or completely missed him. The QB play was just terrible yesterday, all our receivers left plays out there, 50+ yards outside of Marshall. Kerley, Devin, Enunwa all could have had big games if not for Fitz' inability to get the ball to them. Kerley played well but he is what he is, a short receiver who doesn't have great speed. Guys like that Chan has no use for. He wants bigger guys who can also block and that's what Enunwa does. Or smaller guys who can stretch the field. Kerley is neither.
Wasn't on TGG at all yesterday. Got to the parking lot by 10AM and finally got home by 10:30 and passed right out. Bad game all around, trap at its finest - - No Decker or Ivory hurt us; Ivory said he could have played but I'm still glad he didn't - Marshall with one of the stupider plays we'll ever see - Fitz is not the type of QB who should throw 50+ times in any game. And he tries to force throws way too much for my liking and comfort level - Can't throw 2 picks within the 40 when you are trying to make that comeback - Defense looked sluggish early, but they did their thing with a 17-0 shutout in the 2nd half. Can't expect multiple turnovers every game - I called it the other day - Sproles would be the top worry, especially with Murray hurt/possibly not playing Good thing Miami isn't looking all that great, especially the defense. Failing to live up to that hype so far. Would love to go 3-1 into the BYE. Need to just come out smart and let Fitz become a game manager, not gunslinger. Unless Devin Smith finds himself open deep, heave that ball. Jets did hookup my tickets though, view was awesome. Back to my season seats against Washington.
It depends. His little lapse of judgment gave the Iggles a fairly easy touchdown, so that right there is a wash in my book. In all honesty, I'm having a tough time evaluating his performance yesterday. Yes, he did some nice things; he also made some key mistakes. You could say he was at the center of the Jets being in the game AND losing the game. That's a rare thing to achieve....
I slammed him last week, so I thought I should mention that despite Sproles's td on the punt, Quigley had a very good day. I was ready to cut him last week, so I must humbly concede he played well. I was surprised by the lack of adjustment by the CS on that wheel out pass to Matthews that went for a TD, with Davis defending. That same play was run by the Eagles before and didn't connect only because Matthews dropped it. And yet they did not make any adjustment on it the second time the eagles ran it. Both lines looked great in the first two wins. What happened to them? Richardson was sorely missed in particular. And I don't want to hear anymore about how great Powell is. He's obviously good as a changeup, but he is simply ineffective as the primary Rb. The Jets need Ivory.
Ivory didn't do shit last week and that's not his fault either. The Jets need better run blocking not a change at RB. Ivory, Powell and even Stacy are perfectly capable of getting the job done if you give them some breathing room, especially from piss poor Colon and Winters.
Demario is not a starting linebacker in the NFL, he needs to be benched. The only thing he can do is blitz, and that's what he should be limited to. On 1st and 2nd down we need somebody next to Harris who can actually play the position. I would love for Henderson or Lattimore to take over but Bowles won't do it.
Powell doesn't get the big yardage and numbers and he isn't a number 1 back. But he does make plays and the 30 something yards he did get were good ones. And he's a good receiver. Ivory said he could have played and his absence made a difference. But these Rbs take a beating and you almost have to put them on a "pitch count" in terms of them surviving a season.
