He’s one of the worst punters in the league bro. There’s no way to interpret statistics with punters in some weird way that justifies him being garbage through analytics or whatever. https://www.nfl.com/stats/player-stats/category/punts/2021/PRO/all/puntingaverageyards/desc Numbers don’t lie. If your punter sucks you sign the next one. That’s how the NFL works. He had a good punt today and 2-3 bad ones.
Ammendola in top 5. Perhaps a change of career? He is still on our practice squad if I remember correctly.
We'll keep him until his rookie contract is up, let him go, and then he'll turn into the second coming of Ray Guy.
A great personal story about punters --- can't believe I forgot about this. My Dad was a longtime NYJ Shea Stadium season ticket holder -- my first game going w/him was when guys like Richard Todd, Clark Gaines, Dierking, Buttle, Barkum, & all the rest were playing. Johnny Lam Jones had just been drafted & my father hated that pick. We went to about 2 or 3 Meadowland games until my Dad said too long a drive. Chuck Ramsey was the NYJ punter back then. It was early in his career that he had a 3 game stretch where he shanked every punt. Pissed my dad off to no end so bad that the next day after the 3rd game, he submitted & paid for an help wanted ad in the Newsday === Wanted: Punter for the NYJ. I can't find links to the articles because it actually popped up in a couple of sportswriters comments wrote about what a NYJ fan had done. Truth be told --- Chuck Ramsey's career turned around & he was a longtime NYJ who was consistently top 5 at his position from that point on in his career. My Dad turned 90 back in August. Still watches every Sunday, - he can't give it up. And if we're not watching the game together, - we talk on the phone afterwards at around 4:15/4:30.
