You take McFadden if the Longs and Gholston are gone, no question about it. We need a face to this franchise. We have no big name guys.
i would definetly trade down if mcfadden is there.....and gholsten and long are gone. i agree we need a face to the franchise, but it shouldn't be another running back. with the improvement in the line.....thomas jones and leon will be an elite 1-2 punch. lets not waste money on a position that we dont need.....trade for picks and o-line help
Mendenhall could be the face of the franchise just as much as DMC. In fact, I'm starting to think he'd be a better one..
It's going to be very interesting to see what happens on draft day. I have a feeling that Al Davis will scoop up either McFadden/Gholston leaving one of them for us, and we should just take whoever is there. If it's Gholston and McFadden looking at us it is going to be difficult to choose, because the person we don't pick will be going to.....you know where.
Updated mockdraft by Todd McShay of ESPN: With the 7th pick, Pats take Vernon Gholston :S. The mock draft was posted on February 29th which is why we still need a NT and G
I don't think there's any way the Pats can pass up McKlevin, so I wouldn't be too worried about that.
Gholston's an f ing beast and felix jones can be had in the 2nd if running back is the way they want to go.
It's unbelievable how after the combine, people think Mendenhall is better than McFadden. McFadden is by far the better prospect. Played in the SEC, and produced insane numbers for two straight years, on a very bad team. His burst of speed, vision, and cutback ability are amazing. Yet somehow, a one-year wonder in the Big-Ten is better than McFadden. I don't care if Mendenhall has a better height-to-weight ratio, McFadden is better.
I'm still debating of the three which one i want the most. I don't think I want an RB, but there's always the chance that that's the best player available. I'm starting to think that if we got McFadden, just how good our offense would be. Jones could While Mendenhall and Stewart may be better fulltime backs (maybe), McFadden is the biggest playmaker, and he would probably complement TJ for a year the best. A combination of McFadden and Washington would tire out defenses if TJ leaves after 2008. However, I can make a case for any of the three backs.
I wouldn't be completely against taking McFadden, but if the Cowboys are willing to offer both of their first rounders, then I think that is a trade that we have to take.
our opinion My 10 year old son made a good point Jones had 1000 yards with a bad o-line what would he have done with a very good line, McFadden looks great and i would love to have him on our team, but if we could improve our team elsewhere then we think we should go another way either trade down or pick up someone else
Maybe the line wasn't as bad as people say it was........... IDK, I think the Jets would be much better off with a back that is great at running cutbacks, hitting holes fastand running from beside the qb in draws plays. A guy that doesn't need a fullback and can run outside the tackles Lining up 9 yards deep to plow into the middle of the D is probably going to net the same 1100 yard season for Jones anyway.
I'd like mendenhall or Stewart to be real with you... Or trade down and get a wr. Limas sweed james hardy .
I'm not as against it as I was 5 days ago, but I'd still rather draft Gholston if he's available. So many RBs in the draft, that are less of a risk then DMC is.
