    Bannon,

Thank you! That's what I was looking for -- a little bit of intellectual honesty.
My biggest problem with TT followers is not that they like this guy. I like him too, and I truly think (and hope!!) that he might develop into a very dangerous and valuable weapon. My problem is this impression I'm getting from most of TT fans:

Damn the club he plays for, damn the uniform he wears, so long that Tim is shining everything else doesn't matter. As far as people like FakeSpike13 are concerned, Jets can finish 0-16 with 16 total TDs in the season and 100 passing yards per game, so long as all of those passing yards and all of those TDs were made by Tim Tebow.

Well, I've been Jets fan for a very long time. And God knows being a fan of this team is not easy. I was crying what Vinny was injured and out for the season, because it was supposed to be THE year. And we were just THAT good. It bothers me a lot that people here seemingly don't give a shit about my Jets and hope for starting QB of my team to either get injured or play poorly just so their guy gets a chance to start.

I don't know that that is the message of MOST of his fans, but defiantely the LOUDEST fans. Just be aware there are plenty of fans like me that hope he succeeds, but will acknowledge it is possible he wont. That want him to be a success, but not at the cost of the success of the team. Most of us just want him to have a fair shot before being declared a "bust" and drummed out of the league. I think it is the vocal minority that are the TEBOW OR BUST DERP DERP crowd

There's been some pretty viscious back-and-forth about Tebow for 7 years now. Some of his fans have either gotten war-weary (and tone deaf when interacting to new onlookers like you), or they've come new to the fold and are sort of over-reacting to a lot of the negative garbage they see.

I mean, be honest for a minute -- can't you see that the negative thrown Tebow's way is unprecedented? I mean, since when would Boomer just jump out and say "cut this player, he doesn't help the team at all." For anyone else, it would be disrespectful. But because of all this (overblown) talk about a Tebow "circus," people like Boomer feel justified in saying cut him. (And then playing the victim all week because of caustic Tweets thrown at them -- have these victim/martyrs even seen the average comments under any Youtube video?).

When you're just following casually, that kind of treatment ("Cut Tebow now, he adds nothing to the team") seems out of place, because you're not hearing it about any other player, no matter how bad. And it causes crusader-complex, like Tebow needs defending from that.

It's the dictionary definition of "polarizing." But Tebow is the perfect storm for it because he came along in the era of social media, and ESPN-overload.

If he wasn't a good player, he would have receded into the horizon a long time ago.

didn't mean it to be a correction per se....that sounds preachy :) suffice it to say I feel your pain, as any time a real conversation gets started the extremes come in and blow it out of the water

Well put! I like Tebow, I like a lot of individual players (the pouncy twins, Harvin, Hernandez and many other players i worked with), but its only Tebow that I feel compelled to follow and join message board to discuss. And much of this is due to the feeling that I want to defend him against the hate that gets thrown on him... hate that I've never seen thrown at any other player... hate that is probably the least deserved because damn, he's just a good guy and its inconceivable to me why you wouldn't root for the kid. Yeh, you may not believe he can amount to anything, but how can you root against him? And yet SOOOO many do... i just Don't get it!

The uncomfortable truth that keeps Tebow's staunchest troll-haters up at night is that he's a good player -- he'd be irrelevant if he wasn't constantly getting results when the spotlight comes. It would die down if his critics could stop picking at the sore -- because they can't shake the feeling that he's relevant, that's he's got some more good play in store for the world.

Just out of sheer morbid curiosity can you show me a thread that says that ? Whichfan's thread was not a real thread ( read it carefully ) this whole t-head thing is all in your mind bro.

99% of Tebow fans know Sanchez is starting and think Tebow has a lot of upside for the jets as a player, it's like 1 hater says it and all haters run with it , it's the haters saying all the nonsense

Agree and understand completely. I must be hard to constantly defend a perhaps not stellar, but certainly a very promising player

Again agree. My example would be Stephan A Smith who can't help himself by oozing hatred toward TT. It's just unprofessional how he goes from "Tebow has poor throwing mechanics" to "Tebow will never be a real QB". Unprofessional and plain idiotic.
Same goes for Boomer... Let's say he's right and TT will never become a starting-QB level. How the hell does that translate into "Jets should cut him"? Cut him, really? Your get the guys for pocket change, he has enormous upside and we have to cut him without even 1 complete pre-season? How does that make any sense -- like TT, hate him, or anything in between...

My main point is that this "Tebow first, team 2nd" attitude I often sense is just plain wrong.

Translated: there weren't too many (if any) posts stating this so OP became belligerent. Then Catfish and Bannon defused the situation by treating the question seriously.

there is some jackassery that has been posted on both sides. Everyone has seen someone go way over the top at one point. Thus far it has been a pretty even conversation. He has a point that there are some who wish sanchez ill, Bannon has a point that not everyone feels that way. I am a Tebow fan and I see some of the things posted from his "supporters" and just hang my head. I am sure there are people who are sick of both extremes. It doesn't need to devolve to shouting with fingers in ears

If Tebow starts, and the Jets continue to suck and let Mark rot on the bench, more than likely you'll see plenty of pink slips coming through after the season is over.

It's really quite simple, Tim is an impact player and exciting to watch.
