I think that is the question. With Revis not Revis anymore how do we adjust and is our secondary good enough? Time will tell it was certainly not good enough Sunday.
I think this is the obvious move no? it's pretty much exactly how Belichick played it. makes life much easier for the FS too, only being concerned with part of the deep field. Bowles has got to make an adjustment here, especially against Buffalo, where Watkins is the only major offensive threat to worry about. don't let him beat you, and they'll have problems moving the ball.
You honestly think Bowles will do anything to stop the only teams biggest WR threat? He hasn't shown the ability so far just like with Watkins, Hopkins, and Green so far this year. Most coaches make it a point to not let their best player beat you but not with ole Bowlesey.
maybe he can't shut down the top tier guys by himself anymore, but he can still cover most number 1s. And when we play an elite WR, just give hime help or put him on the 2 and double the 1. We already seen we don't need to blitz to get pressure, with 4 guys rushing we were blowing up cincy's o-line all game. We don't need revis island anymore because we don't need to blitz all day to get pressure like we did when revis was in his prime. With 4 rushers that leaves us 7 players to cover at most 5. Double teaming 2 of those 5 should be easy
