From what I've heard, they want to use that cap room to retain their own guys. That's not crazy either. Almost nobody front loads contracts, because it's so risky, but it could be incredibly advantageous for them down the road. Assuming they think Freeman is really shit for instance, they could give him a huge front loaded deal now and have his cap figure be almost zero in the future, if they decide they do want to splurge then, or if they need to spend more to retain other acquisitions.
This is why you're a joke. You think Cro and Holmes are getting Revis money. Cro is not getting revis money from the jets. Maybe from a desperate, stupid team. Holmes' legal trouble will keep his costs down. He won't see 8.5 million on average a year when his next infraction gets him suspended for a whole season. What makes a playoff contender? Franchise QB, good OL, top defense, top 5 coach. Guess what the jets have? Stop thinking that the playoff runs are over if they lose Cro and Holmes. Its stupid and it's why this team has shitty, pussy SOJF that make us all look bad.
Miles Austin has an interesting contract where one year he makes 17 million and another where he makes under 3. If your given cap year can afford a front loaded contract, then it can be advantageous to do so. Why not give a guy 7 million in this season and 3.8 the next if your cap can afford it? That's the trickery of the cap and being a GM or assistant GM.
Yeah. Almost nobody does it because you're rarely certain the player will be worth it down the road, and most of the teams that spend up to the cap tend to have other places they want to use that cap room rather than front loading a deal. But we could see an awful lot of it this year.
I remember that thread.... tards. I watch every cowboy game as well as every Jets game each season due to the house I watch the games in each sunday. I knew exactly why Tanny thought about giving up a 2nd rounder for that kid.
Heh. See, here I was not worrying about how to "feel better." I was thinking that the men in charge of this organization might want to pursue reasonable options other than total emotional breakdown. Maybe instead of negotiating contract adjustments and signing rookies and working the phones, Tanny should bust out a pint of Chunky Monkey and flip through photos of the 2010 season while he sobs on the couch in his darkened office.
I think Holmes and Cro are getting big money from someone else, not the Jets. We ain't stupid, but it means we lose them. Holmes will be the 2nd hottest FA after the Raiders CB. You want to be a playoff contender, go root for someone else. I want to be a Super Bow winner. We need play makers and shutdown corners. Holmes is our play maker, without him, we don't even make the playoffs last year. Top defense with no pass rush and one corner in our defense. Pal, you are clueless. Holmes legal troubles.... you are so silly, this is the NFL boy. They care about production and this dude makes play, something we have lacked since you were in your mommy's belly.
You didn't answer my questions because your hanging your hat on skill players and you don't know enough about the NFL or football in general. I'm done with an old man who is scared of the past and thinks retaining 3 FAs is the key to a super bowl. Intelligence- something you've been lacking since you were in your mommas belly. Pussy SOJF. Then dont watch this season since your personal jesuses will be wearing different jerseys you scared little girl.
I think it would be incredible to try and snag both Dawan Landry and Chris Carr. They both kow the system so no learning curve and would be much better than Pool and Wilson.
Listen, my eye sight and hearing are gone and it hurts to type so I keep it to a minumum. I am so scared of life without the big 3, who's Mark going to throw to if Maynard is covered? As long as we have Boozer and Winston Hill we should be able to run the ball and keep John Elliott and Philbin off the field. What does OL mean? I am just hanging on, please excuse my ignorance. I am past my prime, you should respect your elders son. Don't you have a Grandpa, well, I am someone's so be nice sonny boy. Maybe I will see you at Shea someday and will can share a Rheingold Beer.
While the thought of Kyle Wilson starting opposite Revis gives me nightmares, there's not a helluva we can do about this situation as we went "all in" last season and now, we're gonna have to draw down. I doubt we'll lose all four guys, we will lose two and my gut is telling me its Holmes and Cromartie. Either way, the season still has to be played and RexTanny will find a way to plug the holes. I'm curious as to what the final cap number will be this season. I've read $120mil but if the mb note is true, that already puts us in a hole.
Does anyone here honestly think that most fans will be unhappy with the Jets final roster when week one arrives? Do you really think that Tannenbaum will leave the Jets with shitty talent when our window for a Super Bowl is wide open? If we can keep Santonio and/or Braylon, the rest will be fine (ideally both). We need those WRs partially because of their skill level, but mainly because of their familiarity with the QB and the system. Especially with a shortened offseason. Its the same reason that the lockout will have been a major positive for veteran players who are looking to re-sign with their current teams. With a shortened offseason, teams needs players familiar with the system. Its one of the main reasons Woody and Ellis have a chance to be re-signed with the Jets. The Jets will be just as strong this year, if not stronger. Anyone who thinks different should pick a different team and perhaps a pink dido and some douche for your vagina.
Not that anyone cares...but I'm not worried about anything. We have all the right positions taken care of, and Tanny and co. will make sure whatever we lose will be made up for. You cannot field a proverbial all-star team every year when there's some kind of salary cap, and I'm alright with that. Worrying...fueling message board conversations since 1998.
