Charles Grant had 2.5 sacks last year. I agree that specifically the Saints do not "need" a defensive end but Williams would be a huge upgrade for them. At the tackles they have Jammal Brown and Ben Archibald, a 27 year old returnee from a Mormon mission that they are very high on. So Ferguson is even less needed than Williams. At tailback they have Deuce McAlister, so a trade-up for Bush is not happening, although they'd take him if he fell into their laps on the 2. They just signed Brees so spending a lot of cash on a QB in the 2 slot seems unlikely. I just see nowhere else for them to go and Williams is the best DE prospect to come out in several seasons. He has to be the pick.
The selection will be; If Leinart is there at 4 we will take him If he is not but DeBrick is then we take him If they are both gone then Williams at 4 If we are lucky DeAngelo at 29th or best Linebacker/or Center
