Bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...SPLAT C'mon, man, try it on for some shits and giggles. Everyone knows that no one here is qualified to run a franchise. Anyone who proclaims otherwise wouldn't be on this list.
It was actually meant to be viewed on an IMAX screen without any kind of special glasses. FTR, my ego would kick the shit out of Br4dw4y's in a zero gravity fight scene.
I didn't say we'd be better right now, we lucked into Favre sabotaging our season so we could get rid of Mangini and make the move to get Sanchez. We don't do that if we win the div in '08 but that still doesn't make the Favre move the right one just b/c we got lucky.
I didn't say you argued it was the right one. However, are you really going to say that we're NOT better off now than we would be if we had kept Chad? We would have gotten a Division Title, yes. If he were still our QB and as banged up as he is today, AND with Mangini, we wouldn't be staring at a potential SB run.
I wonder who could've picked up Rex Ryan after that. If I remember correctly, the only team looking for a HC at the time, was the Chiefs. I don't think Rex is a Pioli (sp?) kinda guy. So, chances are, either Rex would've stayed in B-More as a DC for 1 more year, or he would've been the Browns HC.
We are better long term but that was by accident. That move wasn't made in order to get Mangini fired. It worked out long term b/c the move itself crashed and burned.
It doesn't matter as far as we're concerned. That division title would have given Mangini an extra 2 years as our HC, and we'd be going into this season with Mangini and an uncertain, hurt Pennington, or Clemens...we'd also have played the end of last season with Clemens. We'd have a division title, but no AFCC game appearance. But don't say we're better off.
Lucked out is absolutely the wrong term for it. I never said it worked out beautifully with Favre/Mangini, I simply said we were better off. That's not luck, it's making smart decisions when that one decision failed. I'm sure you'll argue, and I don't want to belabor or discuss the point any further, so I'll just preemptively tell you you're wrong. That way, I won't feel I must respond to whatever you say next.
I know it doesn't. I was just trying to figure how the ball would've rolled had we actually won the Division. 1 Division Title. No Rex Ryan. No AFCCG. No Hard Knocks. No Bart Scott. No Cromartie. No Jim Leonhard. 2 additional boar hunters. That pretty much summed it up.
It was luck. That move was made to get us into postseason not to get Mangini fired. We got lucky Favre sabotaged our season and Mangini was fired. Tannenbaum did a GREAT job picking up the pieces but that situation was set up by luck. That decision wasn't made w/ the idea of getting Rex and Sanchez a year later.
Voting for myself would have been ridiculous. Even if I was that "gay" I still would not have voted that way because I would not want to run the team. I also wrote that I voted for wSW. Can a mod confirm this? HTML: o

I love that so many years later every thread turns into a Chad thread. Lets have some fun with this, if Favre hadn't gotten hurt and had continued to perform at the level of the first 10 (or whatever) games. Would we have made the playoffs? I would imagine so. How far into the playoffs would we have gone? How much would it have sucked to have a few more years of the old man and Mangini making playoff runs? We would certainly have lost out on the awesomeness that is Rexy.
