There is a good way to do this, but it would take a lot of time. If I don't bother much with baseball in 2011, I might go ahead with the idea next spring.
I was one of the few guys that supported Mark Sanchez even before the Jets drafted him. I didn't think the Jets had a shot at Mark Sanchez, because I knew he was a top five player. When we traded up for him, I was so pumped. ...no idea where the Andre Brown comment came from. I really liked UCONN's Donald Brown and I still think he'll be a very good player in the NFL. Landing Shonn Greene in the third round was a great value pick and I've never disputed that.
I actually wrote the following quoted posts in January of 2009 in a thread titled "Lets have your favorites for the Jets first round pick":
LOL. I thought I remembered you liking Greene. The only guy I'd think you might have taken instead was Jarron Gilbert. Oh, and Donald Brown is going to bounce back this year. Rough start. That's all.
Yeah, that's what I figured. Unless it was a clown battling me with Gladys Gholston, I usually don't remember which prospects any of us liked until the last couple days leading up to the draft. People are allowed to change their mind and it is expected. Heck, NFL personnel men change their mind on these college players late in the process.
We were two of the few who wanted Sanchez. I think I created 3 threads about him that offseason about how the Jets can get him here. And I know he's mistaking Andre for Donald EDIT: in that favorites thread. I picked Stafford..... interesting, because the rest of that offseason I didn't mention wanting him at all.
"I am one of the biggest Mark Sanchez supporters on this board, and I'd still take Sean Smith or Hakeem Nicks over him." That was like a week before the draft.
"I actually like Andre Brown out of NC State more than Shonn Greene." Less than a month before the draft.
I never thought the Jets would be in position (at #17) to draft Sanchez. Sanchez was one of top players on my board.....but was wishful thinking. No reasonable Jetfan would have thought Sanchez was going to be an option. I couldn't have been happier with the last two 1st Round picks...Sanchez and Wilson.
I'm pretty sure the week leading up to the draft, everyone hoped, and knew the Jets were going to do everything it took to get Sanchez. We waltzed him around NYC before we even drafted him-- how often does that happen?
I can vouch for Mr.E liking Donald Brown. The first day I joined the Madden league as the Colts last season, he sent me a trade request for him.
I had to check, since I figured you were full of shit here when you opted not to post real quotes. You got this one incredibly wrong. I can't find any mention of the two of them more recently than this post, which was about a month before the draft. You're welcome to find the one from the week before. THIS one, however, was actually dead on: I'm not sure why either one actually matters, but at least you were 50/50 on how you remembered things. It's also going to make it difficult to say he was ABSOLUTELY wrong on the latter, since Brown was injured. I don't imagine he'd have been better for us than Greene, though.
I just threw up in my mouth. You like our 6th pick in Rd 1 of 2008?? I like the pick at the end of round 1....DK.
I disagree. IMO, most Jetfans never thought we had enough ammo to move up into early Rd 1 to snag Sanchez. It was clear the Jets liked Sanchez, especially from the visit in Cali at Dana Point and his High School. What wasn't clear was how could the Jets pull off a trade.
They were both actual quotes. Reality is always stranger than fiction. There are plenty of guys he missed on. Calaius Campbel, DRC, Early Doucet are three young studs he was bashing-- that took me about 2 minutes searching to find. This year, I clearly remember him wanting to draft Everson Griffin in the first round... that would have been about 5 rounds early. I have no problem admitting when someone knows more than the average fan. Most people on here do. But when it's taken too far, it's time to take a step back and evaluate. A real professional has to do his own homework. They do not just read other peoples evaluations, and use them to bash those who didn't spend as much time researching. Unless unemployeed and friendless, nobody other than a scout or analyst can come up with their OWN evaluations on 200+ players every year. I'm not even coming down on him for the misses either. As a matter of fact, if he didn't call out so many people, I wouldn't bring it up at all. It's more to those who are actually voting on who could be the GM for this team. Give me a break.
