i say acquire a NT and slide D-Rob over. he played well at the DE spot in the Cleveland game; and wasn't he practicing at DE in training camp last year? if this can be done in Free Agency, even better because then we have a lot of flexibility heading into the draft. then, in the next couple years, draft another DE who will eventually replace either Ellis or D-Rob. cheers
Id love to get a prptypical nose to allow d rob to swap to DE..But I just dont think one is available. D rob can be a very good player at NT for us long term...and as long as we add some size and strenth to the DE position...I think we'll be good in the front 3.
it is way to much to ask of him. you ask him to learn how to become a good NT in the 3-4 and he is a 4-3 DT, now you ask him to learn a completely new postion. that is absurd.
there arent any really good NT in the draft. the only one i can see in the FA is Terdell sands. he is huge but may not be good. havent seen him play much. he is 3rd string on the raiders. so he must not be that good :rofl2:
D Robs play got markedly better as the season progressed. but i would def draft a bigger, WIDER NT and move him over to DE. then i would bring Kimo into talk with tangini and tell him to hit the bricks cuz he aint welcome round these here parts no mo....maybe play a little tom petty for him when he comes in and sits down.
I think ideally, we switch Robertson to end, keep Ellis and add a big nose tackle. Problem is, your not going to find 3-4 nose tackles just sitting at home waiting for phone calls in free agency.
I would prefer that the Jets keep Robertson at DT and change back to a 43 defense, but that's obviously not going to happen. That being said, Dewayne played great football down the stretch for the Jets--he'd do a better job on the end than Ellis did most of the time (and let's not even bother mentioning Kimo.)
i dont think its right to put the mouth on ellis....when youre getting doubled up on every snap, its gonna be tough to break through. remember when we had a few other good players on the d line? remember how good ellis was? we throw together a line thats better than this one, and you will no doubt see more production outta SE.
D rob has figured out the position and is playing well, with a better end the whole line will play better trust me keep him there, if we get someone new they have to learn the psoition and we don't make the playoffs or don't advance next year
