Crumpler would be a good pickup.

If we DO pick one, I'd rather have Crumpy than Shockey (who follows every highlight-reel catch with an easy drop in the end zone)

we don't need Crumpler or Shockey. We need to utilize Chris Baker better. Baker is more than able to be a threat in the passing game and quite frankly has the best hands of any Tight End we've had since Mickey Shuler.

    Alge Crumpler released!!!

I don't post much on the board but found out Crumpler is released I think in our offense TE should be a top priority. Would take some pressure off our receivers if there is any offense free agent acquisition this should be it.

I dont know how healthy he is but I will say a healthy Crumpler is a major upgrade over Baker and even more over Ryan..

So your saying we should pick up Chris Simms as our veteran backup along with Alge Crumpler...not a bad idea...

It wouldn't be a bad pickup at all if he's healthy.

He and Baker are good all around TE's...it'd bring a nice versatility to our offense, help us out with the big WR problem, and help improve the O-line/running game.

Crumpler has had some problems with injuries but he is still a really good TE. I think it wouldn't be a bad move at all on our part.

Crumpler still put up very good numbers this year with a horrible Falcons team i wouldnt mind signing him even though we should be worrying about the Lines and not a TE.

I think our receivers (including Baker) are fine. The lack of production isn't due to the receivers, it's the lack of pass protection and quality quarterback play. Crumpler is not a better blocker than Baker. Let's get our O line beefed up before signing a TE that only marginally improves the position.

Whew. I just heard the news on my way into work. The Falcors cutting Crumpler? SMART! 4 time pro-bowler. I'd take him in a heartbeat. What is he 30? I'm a little concerned that his knee injury was a bit more serious than they let on -- why else would they cut The Best TE in Atlanta history?

What do you think Crumpler would cost? If he's kinda cheap I wouldn't mind signing him.

I agree that Baker is a good receiver. The problem is that he has been needed to stay in to block and he is a good blocker. Having both would be nice at the right price.

Are you guys nuts? Not in his prime, not what he once was? Crumpler JUST turned 30 in December - and should be in his prime the next 3-4 seasons. He's only missed 4 games in a 7 year career. He's average 45 catches per season and a whopping 13.3 YPC! He's scored 35 TD's - even with the weak quarterbacks he's played with - when Vick was out hurt...and jailed.

I've been a big fan since he was a kid in HS - and he'd be a major upgrade on offense for the Jets - a real go-to TE to help our QB (whomever that is) when under pressure - and as good a blocker as Baker at the least. He's worth signing no doubt!

I think the girl who attends Jet games with the pink 87-Coles jersey should have started this thread.

Yeah, what a salesman. I always loved Crumpler -- but now I think I'm IN love with Crumpler.
