Fans like the idea that they can buy their 12 year old kid not only an authentic Pats jersey, but they can buy him one the actual size!

Because they are playing at home, where Brady hasn't lost a regular season game in 3+ years.

Most "experts" still have the Jets winning the division and going further than the Pats in the playoffs.

Good post. In addition to my previous point about why should we care, in fairness there is some legitimacy to those who doubt the Jets right now.

"Public opinion" for starters refers mostly to people who do not follow the Jets as much as we do. Those who follow closely see much reason for hope going forward, and the real achievements this team has made since Ryan took over, upon which we feel we have reason to expect even greater achievements.

But from the perspective of others, they are basically saying show me. Show that you can put together a whole season and win the division, draw the bye and make it to the SB, and hopefully win it. Everyone knows the Jets, despite some better than average seasons here and there, have not won it all for 41 years. Until proven otherwise... That's the thinking, and until the Jets DO prove otherwise, I can't take too much issue with the skeptics.

The Jets are better personnel wise at every position except QB (and kicker probably). The problem is that is a big exception. Sanchez has been playing well but this is only his second year. This game will say a lot about where he is in his development.

    Just guessing here

Assuming the Patriots win, as it's predicted nation wide. I wouldn't be surprised to hear this quote from a Jets player. "The best team didn't win tonight" Most likely from LT as well.

That sounds like the kind of soundbite you could expect from Terrell Suggs or Ray Lewis. LT is a classy guy, he even said so.

Some people like a winner no matter what, but I agree with your point, most fans of other teams do not like the Pats more than the Jets. I think whatever edge the Pats have in the area the OP refers to is based more on respect than affection.

For example I think it was clear the year of the Pats Giants SB that the average fan of neither team was more likely to root for the Giants that game. I know I did, bigtime.

    Wha-What!

Most "experts" still have the Jets winning the division and going further than the Pats in the playoffs.

Hahaha! What a complete fabrication that one is. Vegas now have the Patriots as the favorites to win the SB

    Allow me to...

Blow the Patriots horn a little further.
After the game you may agree there TE's Heranandez & Gronkowski are better as well.

And to be honest, I don't think the doubters are necessarily wrong. We as Jet fans should feel optimistic about the season we are having so far....but those of us who have been around this team long enough deep down are concerned that it could blow up. And G-damn it if it isn't the friggin Pats standing in our way. I draw the analogy to the Ewing-Knicks and the Jordan-Bulls. The only way we are going to exercise the demons is to get past the Patriots....I just hope it ends better than it did for the Knicks. I am really exciting about Monday's game....it could either be the springboard to greatness or lead to another tombstone in my sig. It doesn't get any bigger than this.

Wow! A Patriots troll on the Jets board, trying to give shit to a patriots fan.

So you consider Vegas experts? I'm going by the folks on ESPN and NFL network. Most still think the Jets are better.

    Where?? not here-

    "Team Open Current
    Pittsburgh 12/1 5/1
    Baltimore 24/1/ 7/1
    N.Y. Jets 14/1 8/1
    Indianapolis 13/2 9/1
    Green Bay 19/2 10/1
    New Orleans 7/1 10/1
    N.Y. Giants 15/1 12/1
    Minnesota 11/1 12/1
    New England 17/2 12/1"

SportsBook does have NE, so it's a mixed bag.

    You said it all

No convincing wins other than Buffalo and Cincy oh and the Patsies. The rest of the season is against legit competition, so they will be able to put any haters to bed. Even Buffalo isn't a pushover like they were earlier. The Jets have to go on the road at New England, Chicago, and Pittsburgh. If there ever were a time to prove you're a good time, this is it.

I doubt it, Keller's really good when we go to him.

The predictions are going for the Pats to win because the game is at their place and they have Marsha and Psycho. Oh and there is that inertia thing. They've picked the pasts for the last decade.

I would feel a lot more confidence if we had a better offensive coordinator. If the offense doesn't come out ready to go from the beginning of the game then the Jets are going to be playing from behind.

In order for the Jets to win this game they need to:
Finish drives in the red zone, field goals will kill them.
    Minimize penalties
    win the turnover battle.

On defense they just need to make the Pats work for every yard. No missed tackles, no PI. Revis takes out Welker, Linebackers need need to be physical on the tight ends at the line so they can't come off the line clean. Force the Pats to throw to Tate, Branch and Woodhead.
