Here is why I think he's fucking retarded: http://www.thejetsblog.com/2009/11/20/transcripts-the-coordinators-week-11/#more-18550 So you have the best Goal Line offense in the league but you thought "attack mode" was the right idea at the one yard line? Then you realize it isn't the right idea once you see what happened and the ball couldn't be snapped in time. WHY GET CUTESY YOU PUSSY?!?!?!?! I can put myself in that situation as a leader on a field and tell you I would never fucking ever do that when I know all I have to do is punch it the fuck in 3 feet from the endzone. How fucking dare he call himself a coordinator. Absolutely pathetic. Just when I thought my morning couldn't be worse - this fuck tells everyone it was a bad idea. Anyone else wonder why I want him gone. Its the little things that make him look terrible. Holy fucking shit. ATTACK MODE?!?!? REALLY. Why isn't attack mode 8 OL and TE across the line raping the opposing DL?
It's called being realistic. Every year we whine about coaches, when do the players take any responsibilities? Are they not allowed to execute? I'm not a guy who calls for the coach to get fired every time something goes wrong like most people are.
^ Exactly. We complain about coaches as if there's no doubt that the players would execute perfectly. I like the call last week on the deep ball. Mark had tons of time to throw and Jerricho was open. He left it short...that was not a bad play call. On the screen, TJ walks into the EZ if Mark puts that ball in the right spot. Braylon should not have fumbled, and Keller and Sanchez could both have been a little better on the log pass that Considine broke up. Hindsight is 20/20 first of all, so it's very easy to fault a coach after what he calls doesn't work. Secondly, blame has to fall on all parties, not just the guy with the headset. There is never a failed play that can be 100% blamed on the OC.
You see good teams go into "attack mode" all the time with a lot of success. I have no problem with the concept of attack mode, but the timeout was fucking stupid. If you're going to give a rookie QB an attack call on the goal line, you had better have the ability to audible into a standard run play if the defense adjusts properly. Schotty was unprepared for the defense being prepared. That's the part I find unacceptable.
Isn't it part of the coaches job to make the players execute? Why do all the great coaches have the best players that execute? Why do players that are under performing else where go to teams that have good coaches and start to execute?
Folks have been calling for Schotty's head for sometime. He's got more lives than freaking Morris the Cat. Granted, there were some earlier legitimate excuses like the OL being in shambles. But still, people try to argue that he's going to grow into some wonderful OC... I think he's already peaked as an OC. You aren't going to dramatically change how this guy play calls for the most part. Either you have to be willing to live with him being cute and over-thinking situations now again, or you aren't.
